Most know I'am on my High School golf team (my first year). I found out today that we are getting sponsored by Nike and Buffalo Wild Wing :). We will be announcing it sometime in August and Nike is coming to are school. A week before school starts Nike is coming to talk to all are teachers and coaches and stuff about it and we will be getting everything you could think of new from Nike xD (not really sure what Buffalo Wild Wings is giving us but oh well lol)

. What grade are you in? I'm considering making the jump to my high school team as well. I believe all you need to get in is a 95. (I think)

Freshmen Year - Football Sophomore Year - Grades Fail :( Junior Year - Track&Field; Senior Year - Bowling&Golf; Wanted to try and play everything since baseball is during Golf cant do that :(

We are actually paying like i think $30 for the first Tee Program idk if we are still going to since we get alot with the sponsorship. Our coach did a fundraiser tournament $100 buy in and $25 goes to are program we got about $2,500 from that

Wow, so great that Nike is coming to you're school. I wish I could be their. Our you excited? Who due you think will show up? I hope that ewe can contain yourself.

No, but seriously, I'm happy for you, but pay attention in English class, yo. And if BW3 is sponsoring you, that probably means they're paying for something and will get some advertising back in response, but it shouldn't matter to you - might just be some advertising on your golf bags or something.

We got shirts and hats comped for state my junior and senior year, free balls, and Ping Hoofer bags (I ended up keeping mine - they never asked for it back!). Bag's still probably somewhere in my mom's garage.

Congratulations, both for being on the team and for the sponsorship.


As for the guys making fun of the spelling, plenty of adults on this forum have been confusing their/there/they're , are/our, it's/its, and spelling sponsor as "sponser". It's just part of being on the internet that you'll see that.

on my high school golf team, we don't get anything free besides green fees. we had to buy our own ping hoofer bag (and we "have" to pay extra to get our names embroidered on them), shirts and jackets.

The only thing that we got for free was one golf ball per match. We had to pay for our own shirts as well.

What does the sponsor thing mean? Does this mean that you all wear Nike logos, play their gear, what? Sponsorship can be a double edged sword sometimes. Depending on the conditions, keeping in mind my amateur status, I'm not sure I'd be happy about being sponsored in high school.

For my high school team we get 2 shirts. Maybe a hat. Team bags (which we have to give back at the end of the year). And some crappy balls during the course of the year. If we end up winning our league we get varsity jackets. It's like $125 for the year.

we also get bags in our team colors but have to give them back at end of season.

i wish i did but i played football then grades then i got dragged into doing track

Just curious, but why didn't you play multiple sports each year? I did football, wrestling, tack (ish) and golf.

      Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.

      I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.

      I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
