Though I know different drivers suit different people, but I need help narrowing some down. I currently have an MX-500 which has too much loft for me. It was a great deal at the time and I couldnt pass it up, but it isnt for me.

My top choices right now are:

Taylor Made R7 Superquad
Mizuno Mp-600

Which other drivers should I consider? I am looking for control, distance has never been a problem for me.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I would recommend going to a pro shop and demoing as many drivers in your price range as you can. Try the newest models from all of the top manufacturers.

Maybe all you need is a new shaft. I have a ping G10 and it was a completely different animal with the Diamana Blue shaft on the launch monitor. Same club 9* with a pro launch red gave me exactly the trajectory I wanted. If you *must* get a new driver, I would swing the Titleist 909 - and of course don't leave out the G10. Its the first driver I have had in a long while that doesnt have an imminent retirement date.

I would agree with the above. Custom fitted clubs or clubs tuned for your swing is the key.Right now I`m still hitting my Ping G-5 9 degree and loving it.I had the shaft changed to my specs and then weighted and cut to fit me. If you go to clubmaker make sure they test your swing speed and launch angle. Just trying to help. Good Golfin

Depending on your swing and budget, I like the Taylormade R 9

Note: I have had three shafts in this thing. I am almost possitive its not a shaft thing. The two shafts I have bought were both "fitted"

Checkout the Mizuno MX700. Not only does it look great but the reviews are promising.

    • The first issue Erik spoke about is something we worked on for my swing during both GEARS sessions. GEARS was showing my pelvis center moving towards the ball during the back swing. I wasn’t the 4” guy though! This forced me to correct on the downswing to give myself space. My hip rotation was to high as well. We corrected it by first getting the weight off my heels in my stance and getting my posture correct. Then the feel was shifting back into my right hip at a 45 degree angle. This kept my pelvis center from moving towards the ball at the start of the backswing. I also didn’t sway back as much as I felt I did because of the angle I was shifting. Feel Ain’t Real. The cool thing about GEARS is as you work on something you can see the exact (Real) change happening. On video, it is much harder to spot this issue because of the 2D nature of filming. But I know what to look for now. Sadly, I was hurt all last year and most of this year so I really haven’t been able to work on it much. I did do a lot of backswing work though.
