My mental game is SHOT!!!
Here are my last 4 rounds-
37-44
36-49
39-41
38-45

This is on 3 different courses, so it's not that the front sides are easier.

I seem to have started to loose it after 9. Any clues?

Take a week off. This happens to athletes all the time. Particularly runners, but anybody who trains with their bodies. I think you might be doing something equivalent to "overtraining."

So take some time off before you go completely Charles Barkley on the course.

Ben Hogan is my swing coach.

Easiest solution would be to play 9 and go home and be happy.

Are you sure it's mental and not getting tired after the front 9? If it is mental, are you losing focus or are you trying too hard on the back 9 to equal or better your front 9?

No one on here can help you unless more details are given on what is causing the score differential.

Don't think about front nine and back nine. It is one course, 18 holes. You're not done until the last putt drops on the 18th.

Any chance you may just be running out of gas? I live in SE Asia and play in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia - needless to say it gets pretty damn hot. During most games, I'll go through at least a couple of litres of water plus some snacks. If you don't hydrate and snack along the way you may not feel it physically, until it's too late and then it just feels like you've got no more wind in your sails!

I'd go along with this.

You are a much better golfer than I, so don't take it the wrong way, but I have always struggled over the back 9, hitting between 9-13 more shots than on the front, so I experimented and started at the 10th a few times......and still shot more on the "back" nine! Could be just a bit of tiredness and the mental watershed of the 9th hole, moving on to ANOTHER 9 could be doing it....play the course from the 1oth and see what happens

I don't think it's physical. I am in good shape. I think I start "protecting" my front side score, instead of keeping the momentum.

i play on the golf team at my highschool, i noticed that it helps if i think of one shot at a time and dont think of what could go wrong, if you hit a bad shot you can always hit it again

I understand you may be in good shape, but tiredness and hunger can manifest itself in different ways.

I'm not saying by not eating and drinking throughout the round you're going to keel over from exhaustion. What I am trying to say is that if there's no fuel in the tank, the mind is the first thing that gets affected which may impair your judgement and/or co-ordination. If you're playing golf which does require a good deal of concentration, then a tired mind is not going to be as effective.

    • It feels like Rory blew his load on the 18th at Augusta. Maybe everyone is underestimating how much that took out of him. Watching McGinley whaling in 'Roaddie' for not stopping by to talk to the press was bit of drag. The dude has given so many interviews and so much of himself over the years, he outghta be able to play with house money sometimes. Jeez, leave him the fak alone.
    • Some positives playing in league tonight.  1st) Making the backswing a more lateral shift, and feeling the left leg and torso resist the turn at the top of the swing is helping out a lot. I got to feel an uncomfortable amount of pause in the backswing to set up the downswing.  2) I need to do a bit of more arm stuff better. Still too much draw or pull draws for my liking.  3) Short game is getting sharp. Many tap-ins tonight. I am trying to make the shortest backswing possible for the shot. It really forces me to stay aggressive with the pivot.
    • Day 43 (12 Jun 25) - Return of the net in the backyard as I set it back up in anticipation of some work with the R10 in coming days.  Used it to hit a few iron shots into the net with the 7i before wrapping up the session with the wedges.
    • Shame to see Rory crash on the back nine. Nice to Spieth play well. Looking forward to seeing Brooks collapse…😂
    • Day 255 - 2025-06-12 Played 18 holes. Started to over-do the crap out of my thing for holes 9-15 a bit, then refreshed it and finished out really well.
