same here i always see 50 or 60 year olds with new drivers and clubs but i hit farther and straighter every time

Yup, and by the same token (as an addition to my above post) there are lots of players who do benefit from the newest, most advanced equipment so of course they have reason to be spending thousands of dollars on clubs :)

Id just get a cheap sand wedge, prob not going to find one at walmart since you're a lefty so go online and get a cheap 56 deg wedge. Also, if you're new, you're going to have to set money aside to buy balls as you'll probably lose a few and tees too. Get a decent golf towel to wipe off your clubs after each shot, about $10 or so at walmart, I use mine a lot.

The used rack at my local Golf Galaxy (Delaware) always has a great selection of top name used clubs for a great price. Some are more worn than others, but I have always found what I need. If you need to add wedges, are on a budget and near a golf galaxy, then I would start there.

you can find some really nice generic and namebrand wedges on ebay for CHEEEEAP!!!

Pinemeadow make good wedges for $20-30 depending on what model. http://www.pinemeadowgolf.com/golf-c...nemeadow.wedge
I have that wedge in 64* and plan on getting a 56* and a 60* to replace my 64*.

I agree with the wedges. Acuity makes some decent wedges that are affordable. I have a Callaway set of irons but still hit my Acuity gap wedge just fine.

    • So no joke, last evening post work nine must have been the craziest side I've ever played: Bogey, double, double, par, birdie, birdie, birdie, double, birdie. Two gimme birdies, one 15 footer and one bonus bomb from prolly 35 feet on no. 9. Full disclosure, it's a super easy course when greens are running at an 8 with easy welcoming pins. Still, a couple of firsts there. Driver freed me up starting the fourth hole. Anyway, driver notes: 1) anti left left hand grip. 2) no structural bind on hands/grip. 3) left shoulder HAS to get up to chin with humerus completely detached from chest and shoulder socket (feel) Big game tomorrow, aiming to break 80.
