I was watching some of the Cox Classic this morning and they said that Tadd was averaging 314 yards off the tee....he is only 5'1" tall!!

No chance for me, I'm 55 years old.

Come on man, give me a break. The conspiracy theories are in every sport and are very lame statements to make.

Seriously? It's a common fact every sport buffs stats.

Because they need to have a reason to argue the fact that a guy that small can hit it that much farther than them

We're the same height. I weigh 120.

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

I know it is. Like I said, if you don't average them your self, you have nothing else to go by.

You may be the same height and you may weigh 120, but chances are you don't hit the ball as far as him.

He is 5 foot 1 inch.

This post is directed at you and anyone else who is

insisting the stat that he is 5'1" is absolutely correct. Have ANY of you ever seen him and stood directly behind him (i.e behind him in line at a gas station snack shop) or anywhere even remotely close to him? No? Yea, I didn't think so. I don't know the kid, I've never spoken to him, I don't know any of his friends, however I DO know that he is NOT 5'1". He was standing in front of me in sandals and I was wearing my top siders and he was still less than 4-6" shorter than me. I'm 5'8" So you can do the math. I'm not trying to take away anything from the guy. He IS short and whether the 314 yard average stat was accurate or not I do not know, but he sure does have a lot of power for someone of his stature. However, we don't really know if he (like amateurs) is hitting his driver "all-out" or if he (like most of the pro's) is swinging moderately in order to get good distance while maintaining control. Obviously if it is the latter than the 314 average is much more impressive. Stats aren't everything. Whether he hits it 200 or 400 yards off the tee, at the end of the round/tournament his score is his score.

i doubt thats why any of us are "adding" height to Tad. How often does Tiger (6'1", 180 according to golf channel) average 314 off the tee? I'm sure most of us arent in anywhere near as good as shape as Tiger so If Tad is averaging a higher driving distance (even if only for that one tournament - YES i KNOW they dont play on the same tour) then I don't see why anyone here would think Tad is more of a man or whatever than them. I'm saying Tad isn't 5'1" because he really is not 5'1". As I've said a few times already, his power and distance is impressive, but I don't feel like any less of a player because he hits it longer than I do. He's on tour for a reason. /rant.

Geez. You waited a long time for the answer.

I followed him twice in Hawaii. Got very close several times. I am 5.7. I felt like a giant in comparison.

I don't know how tall his caddy is, but if a tour bag is about 36 inches.....
And I doubt that this caddy is 7 feet tall.

Assuming his driver is 45" (the numbers are just worse for him if they're shorter), I got 5' 1.5" in Photoshop (133 pixels to 185 or something like that).

Tiger is actually not even in the top 25. "Shape" doesn't mean everything in golf as far as distance is concerned. Surely you would know that by now.

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
