So i went out today and was ready for a nice round. It ended up being the most frustrating round i ever played. Not becuase i played bad, but because of the god damn groundsmen. THey are currently installing bunkers all over the course which is cool, but it is unbelievable how rude these guys are. the fist 6 holes I had one of them drive a cart or a tractor right in front of me when im about to take a shot. It seemed they had no care that people were actually playing golf. I really do not want to hit anyone with a golf ball but it seemed like these guys wanted to be hit. To top things off One of the •••••••s ran over my ball and stopped and asked if it was mine. I said yes and he just laughed.

That is pretty bad. If they're going to work while people are golfing you'd think they'd at least try to stay out of peoples' way. Of course you should demand your money back if a guy literally drove over your ball.

Is it standard practice for a course to stay open when work like this is being done?

In my experience at a course that is still under construction, yes.

The golf desk should have forewarned you that construction was going on and offered the round at a reduced rate.

That's funny...

Courses never offer a reduced rate from what I've seen, no matter what the conditions are or what is being done. They 'should' but won't. Your situation is the worst I've heard off. Plenty of times they groundskeepers just keep mowing or whatever, but I've never had them drive right in front of me and definitely never had them drive over my ball then laugh. I understand that the best time to do work is in the middle of the day and I'm fine with that as long as the workers respect the players. I know they have work to do and don't want to have to stop every 10 minutes but they need to remember that the golfers are the reason for them having jobs to begin with. Talk to the course manager (if you haven't already) and demand either a refund or a comped round or two to make up for it. Hopefully he'll take this feedback and either talk to the grounds crew about this or have the superintendant do it.

Happens quite often here when the course has plugged/aerated their greens. I experienced it in Myrtle Beach also.

Re the guys that ran over your ball: is it possible that they were not the groundkeepers, but outside construction workers?

If so, you really need to report the incident.

I was actually thinking this. The total lack of respect and just plain arrogance does kind of fit someone who does not play or is familiar.

If they don't worry about it then just play. I know when I was a groundsmen I was very aware of golfers. I didn't want to get hit.

Wow, that's hard to believe. The groundsmen at my course are all very polite. One yesterday was mowing on one of those big mowers way up by the tee of a 150 yd. par 3 and he stopped and waited for me to putt out way up by the green before he continued. They are very aware of everyone. It's a shame some aren't.

That is exactly what the groundscrew at the courses I play at are like. If they're installing sandtraps my guess is that they don't work there and were brought in from outside to do the work. Tell the the course manager what happened as I'm sure they would want to know if something like that was going on on THEIR course.

My local course was being dug up several years ago when they started building houses around it. I started on 10 and 10, 11 and 12 had big trenches dug through the fairways for sewer and drain lines. The dirt next to the trench was piled up 2 feet high and they were right in the landing areas. After those 3 holes, I went back to the clubhouse, which was also being remodeled and demanded my money back. They offered a rain check but as this was going to be a long construction time, I told them no, give me my money back so I can go play somewhere and enjoy it.

They most likely get Min. Wage and don't care..

Call for a refund/rain check

every once in a while I get waved to hit while a maintenance guy is watering the green right in front of us, or raking a bunker or mowing a fairway. If they do that, I don't care anymore if I hit them. If the guy drove right in front of me, I might have tried to buzz him with a ball and if he said anything I would respond that I did not see him just as he did not see me. F-em

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

Just for some closure, I went back and talked to the manager and Apparently I was not the only one who had problems. He gave me a free round coupon thing. so that was cool.

Hitting someone with a golf ball can result in injury or death. I'd still be careful, you would feel terrible if you hurt someone and could actually be suspected of a crime if you intentionally hit at them.
