http://thesandtrap.com/archives/reviews/ Also, the new Titleist 585 comes out soon, so I'm interested in that.

I am so confused... I'm hearing an August release and a release planned for the first of the year from people left and right...

I'm a college kid interning for the summer and I make enough money to be happy but I have to spread it out - A Cameron Detour and 585 release is a deathly combination

DDBowdoin,

The Titleist fall sales meetings start this Wednesday, so we should have a definite date by the end of the week. Rusterson, The Nickent hybrids are outstanding sticks. Good looks and very forgiving clubs. They're availible with a good range of stock shaft options. They're definately worth a lot more than they're charging for them. Great club for high handicappers as well as low handicappers who like the "straight ball." I'd take a strong look at the new 3DX DC ironwood.

I had a Taylormade Rescue Dual with a stiff shaft and I sliced it quite a bit, seemed as if the clubhead was just a little too light for my taste. I could have either messed with the adjustable weight thingy's (which they don't give you a tool for, they just assume you've purchased an R7 as well) or I could return it within that 30 day playability guaruntee I had. I returned it for a Cleveland Halo which was perfect for me. It's long and hit dead straight, every time I swing it. (Of course by making the previous statement I've screwed myself for my next round)

I guess what I'm saying is, don't overlook the Cleveland Halo :)

Anyone tried Callaway's heavenwoods? I get a free one if I buy the X460, trying to decide if I would want to keep it or sell it on E-bay...

look into the Sonartech MD club, it's probably one of the least known hyrbids out there (even though Hamilton won the British with it)... it doesn't have a Nike, Cleveland, or Callaway label on it... players know about this clubs but I'm suprised how many new comers have either never heard or barely heard of this great club... I want one, but clubs tend to be gifts for me... I was happy with the 503H at the time

DDBowdoin,

I've heard the detour will be a very limited release at first, and expect it to be very expensive, much like the first run Circa 62's that were availible late in 2005. We'll see at the end of the week.

I tried the taylormade rescue and was having some issues. I switched to Ping and love it. Best bet is to try them all at your local shop and buy the one you feel most comfortable with.

Great spirits will always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

Try the Cleveland Halo or the Cobra Baffler. They are both great clubs.

no doubt. Friend of mine ( 13hcp ) dumped half of his bag and replaced with sonartec md's. Especially with the iRod shaft - it's a nice combination.

I'd like to see them come down a bit in price... but yeah they are an absolutely solid club

tgw.com had the exact version of the club used by Hamilton to win the british, it has something to do with how it was bent.. its a little stronger than the stock club or something, it was around 3 or 350 bucks

Lots of pros are starting to use the Cobra Baffler. Haven't gotten to hit it yet, but there's got to be a reason.

I've got experience with the Nickent 3dx and the TM Dual TP. I've picked the Taylor Made. I agree, though, that the Nickent was a good club and maybe the Tour version would have worked better for me. I turned the standard offering over too much. Adjusting the weights to fade in the TM has straightened out my ball flight with the hybrid.

    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙
    • Day 28: 2026.01.30 Managed to make time for a few swings out back today. Need a proper bit of range time this weekend.
    • Day 30, 1/30.  Six minutes this morning hitting a few more range balls, indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Did this before leaving the house.

    • Hi All my New Year’s resolution was to start playing golf again. I’ve caught the bug and am really enjoying hitting balls at a couple of my local ranges.looking forward to getting back out on courses in the spring. Based in the UK and 38 years old, I’ve been playing since I was a kid. Best handicap I’ve held is 2 in my mid 20s. Over the past 10 years I’ve played once or twice a year, sometimes with friends or for work. Could shoot 4-5 over, but just as easily shoot 15-20 over. I’ve moved to South Wales and am very lucky to be near some world class links courses, which gives me even more motivation to get playing again! I will start looking for a local coach in my area when I have more time to invest, but I recalled scouring this forum a few years ago and finding some good tips and advice so wanted to give it a try to see if there were any glaring issues I could fix in the meantime!  A few swings below… one from 1st week Jan and one from today. I have fixed my P1 takeaway to my liking and am now working on what I see as pretty severe early extension & hip thrust. Also terrible hip rotation. I’d like confirmation that this is indeed a problem and and suggestions on a few good drills. Thanks for reading 🙂 I've been Playing Golf for: 30+ years My current handicap index or average score is: 10ish over My typical ball flight is: mid The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push right with irons, hooks and push with driver!  Videos:
