This might be a dumb question but ... I recently signed-up for a few lessons. Like many here I've acquired several sets over the years:

Hogan Apex Blades
Hogan Apex Edge's
Cleveland CG2's
Cobra 3100's
Nickent 3DX Hybrid's
Nickent 3DX Pro's
Wilson Ci7's

Should I take player's irons or hacker's helpers?

My thought being that some of those irons try to mask swing flaws, while others expose them ...

First, you get a big smile for the term "hacker's helpers."

How much are you willing to carry? I would suggest the full set of whatever you play the most, along with the PW and 7I from the other sets. And then ask the instructor which he suggests you bring in the future.

Probably doesn't matter. The pro will be looking at your swing and ball flight, not the clubs. And although the player's irons may expose the flaws more, the ball flight with the "hackers helpers" (I'm not sure whether I like that term or not yet, but it is funny) will still be enough for any decent pro to understand. Just go with what you enjoy playing with.

I'd take what you are going to be playing with most often.

905R 9.5* Fujikura Speeder
200 steel 3 wood
200 steel 5 wood
690.CB 3-PW
56* 14 Pro Platinum Newport 2 Pro V1 B330-S

What the people have said before, take the clubs you play with most often and are most comfortable with. No reason in taking lessons with a set clubs, than go on playing a round with a different set. Am I right? Sounds pretty logical to me, lol.

In my Tourino Stand Bag:
Driver: S9-1 F 9.5º Aldila DVS-HL S Flex Shaft
5 - Wood: 1200 Gear Perfect (being upgraded next year)
Irons: R7 Irons 4-PW
Balls: GamersWedge: 60.08º Vokey Spin Milled Wedge - Oil Can

You're not going to be able to hide any swing flaws from your pro no matter what clubs you're using. If it's wrong he'll see it. The ball flight might not be as bad but the cause will still be apparent to the pro when he sees your swing.
