Looking at your golf bag it looks like you have plenty of money. Calm down buddy. Some people are fortunate and others aren't. It's just the way life is.

Or he could have handed the club to some kid who could not afford it and made the kids day, Oh but that wouldnt be cool huh ?

Yes I do have plenty of money, I also would never break a club just because I shot a bad score, I would give my clubs away before I would consider that old club or new . What you call fortunate I call spoiled , you calm down.

I'm just guessing here but I would bet his parents gave him is clubs had he worked for them like I did, I'm sure he wouldnt break them over his knee.

nobody around except his friend who probably has a better driver than a 9 yr old stick,by the time he saw another kid he would have cooled down enough to where it not cross his mind.

Ok ok. Hkmp5. What makes you think that I have money? My mom is a stay at home mom. She has many medical problems which is why she can't work. My dad gets up at 6:00 every morning (except on sundays) to go to work at an airplane parts repair factory (like george lopez show), and gets home at 6:00-7:00 every night. We live in a villa in our development because we can't afford a house. I am privileged to live on a golf course. Our family moved here a couple years ago because I started to get into golf. I took a job last summer where my dad works to pay for my own golf expenses. I made $1500 and still have $900 left. I've been using the same clubs for 3 years. The only really expensive club in my bag is my Odyssey putter which I got on my birthday. The membership I have at my golf course was a christmas present. I didn't get anything else that christmas.

The club I broke was a real old driver, with a dented face, and a worn out grip. It wouldn't do much good in someone else's hands.

So please, make sure you know the facts before you attack me. Thanks.

And when I say I made $1500, and have $900 left, I used that money to buy buckets of balls, golf clothes, balls, gloves, hats, rounds of golf, and other expenses. I work to play golf. I love the game. If that's what I have to do to play, then so be it.

Well I broke the club over my knee on the last hole. Plus, I've never done anything like that in my life. I didn't know where it came from.

well, once you get out of your folks house and start paying for your own clubs/rounds, i think you'll calm down a bit on breaking shafts and such.

It's okay dude, I get angry out there too. I feel like if I don't meet my expectations I am failing myself.

I don't agree. Having emotion and showing emotion are two different things in life. I manage a large staff in sometime high strees enviroment, and when some one f*** up and they new better, you better beleive I pissed, but blewing my top is not an option, same thing with my kids sometimes, so things with golf. You don't think Tom Watson cared? or pushes hard? but he keeps his cool.

I understand where you are coming from man, but different people have different ways of going about things. Some people like to show emotions on the course. If they can do that without hurting anyone or anything, and it's not detrimental to their game, then I say go ahead.

i have to disagree with this - while it may not be detrimental to THEIR game, it might be supremely distracting and/or awkward for anyone around them. example here would be a guy i played with some years ago - and eventually stopped playing with - where if he was having a bad day, he'd curse, yell, throw clubs, hit the ground with clubs, and in one case snapped a club in half over his knee. it was pretty embarrassing for me to be around that. people were looking our way a lot, and i'd try to make sure i stood as far away from him as i could without actually leaving the hole. i ended up playing less than a stellar game myself because i was more focused on what manner of f*ckery this guy would unleash the next time he hit a bad shot.

Yes but I said that if you can show emotion without hurting anyone or anything , then it's fine. By hurting anyone, that would also mean hurting their game, and hurting anything by breaking clubs. Im talking about showing emotion like silently cursing, or some players swing their club really fast to let off a little steam. That's what I'm talking about.

Regardless of the scenario, breaking a club is extremely over the line. I find it outrageous as well as embarrassing when anyone in my foursome slams a club or hits their bag. It's not the tour. Whether your a 3 handicap or a 25, respect the game. It can be a real ass at times but thats why we all play it. That being said, I'm confused where all this hoopla is coming from. You shot a great round, in the rain, but messed up a little at the end. Sure its hella frustrating but look at the great first 16 and keep working to go lower.

haha these people are over reacting. if it had been a new driver i would be like wow dude thats dumb but it was some old piece of crap so what does it matter. now i do play with a friend who throws clubs ALL THE TIME and it does get a little frightening sometimes but i dont let it get to me. i say breaking an old club over your leg is better than throwing it and possibly hitting someone..

    • Depends on the lie, pin location, green.  I would say most of my pitches are with my 60-degree.  Its probably like 90% 60-degree, 10% 56 degree.
    • Depends on my lie and the green I am working with. If I want to fly and stop, my 58* If I am looking for it to run a bit, my 54* And on occasion if the lie and green call for it, punch and run with my 7i
    • I did the RTJ trail, we just did Grand National and Capitol Hill. We were trying to minimize travel time. It gave us 5 courses to play. You pare playing 3 of the 5 we played.  If I had to pick, I would play the Lakes over the Links at Grand National. Links felt too penal on approach shots. If you can't get height or spin, it felt like every ball that hit the center of the green ran off the back. A lot of the greens require force carry, no running it up. It just wasn't that fun to play.   Judge - Really good course, some really cool holes and terrain.   Senator - Really fun open course. They call it link style, I can't remember how much you can play the ball down, but it has the aesthetic appeal.
    • I do that at the range; I just have been going through a half-assed pre-shot routine. 😇 I just kind of waltz up to the ball and hit it. I catch myself just going through the motions of aiming. Once I started aligning my club to an intermediate target, I felt like I was aligned way open to the target but just trusted it. Like, if the club was aimed at the flag in the middle of the green, then my body was aligned left of the green or more (assuming something like a 100+ yard shot). I think I was more concerned with where my feet were lined up and not the clubface.  A question on alignment then.  So, the ball is like what, 3-FT away from the toe target line. So, does that mean if my toe line is aimed at the flag, the club is aimed 3-ft right? Does the perception of the green looking smaller in the distance impact that in terms of how we hit the shot? I feel like the geometry should work that the ball is actually aimed 3-FT right.
