The used bin is a great place to find very playable clubs at great prices. Just got my Callaway driver I'm using now from a Golfdiscount store. I gotta go checkout Goodwill as someone said earlier.

Taylor Made TPA XVIII in Like New condition for $12. Probably could have bought it for half that but I'd wanted one for 20 years so I paid full price.

Saturday I was driving down a country road and as I passed a yard sale I noticed a golf club leaning against a table, and I had to go back just to see. Well I bought a Titleist 980 f Pro 3 wood with a mint stiff shaft, (needed a grip which I replaced) for a wopping $2.00 and after a few hours on the range and a few rounds , well it has made it's way into the bag puting the high dollar r7 3 wood in the closet. I about fell over when the lady ask if 2.00 was to much, I had to get part of my pocket sewed where I almost ripped if off trying to get the money out

I have best luck in golf shops in upscale neighborhoods. Golfers in $$$land have more money than brains, and often trade away little-used namebrand clubs several times a year.

If you're a regular, the staff will sometimes give you a good deal on these items. When I lived in Texas, one golf course shop manager near Dallas said he purposely short-changed the rich kids on trade-ins so he could give serious golfers a good deal.

Years ago, my dad found a 9-wood in a K-Mart used club bin (this was some time in the late 80's I think). It was maybe 10 or 12 bucks, but he was a beast from about 180 yards out with that thing. I wonder what happened to it.....?

I got my irons used from my local driving range. They're Nickent 4DX Pros and they usually retail new for around $1600 NZ ($800 or so US). They had them priced at $400 NZ and I thought they'd missed a 1 in front of the price because they looked brand new. Turned out the price was right so I snapped them up.
