Hey Guys, They're selling Scooty Pro tour head covers, limited edition for only $300. Is that ridiculose or what?

Yes it most certainly is for a headcover that probably costs 25 cents to make.

I'll never be giving up my Newport Mil-Spec - I love the look so much more than the newer Studio putters which just look gaudy with the huge dots on the back. Probably not this winter, but I''m thinking of sending it in for a refurbish ($145 - ouch).

I'm sure it costs slightly more.

Typical Scotty hater comment....

Well said! Out of 18 holes someone drives 14-15 times most? If someone has 18 putts in 18 holes that's AMAZING. But yet people say paying $200-$300 for an OTR Scotty Cameron is WAY TOO MUCH. These are the same people buying $300+ drivers every 3 years and only hitting it 14 times at most in 18 holes. I don't understand....

**Update** No Scotty coming for me now ... The Ebay auction stated the putter I won was 34" but the seller discovered it was 35" and informed me before shipping. For $215, I should have my preferred specification so I'll likely agree to a full refund ... what a let down though.

I feel for you....not so much about the Scotty....you can find deals all day long....even brand new models for $225. I couldn't imagine what I'd be like to only have a month of golf left in the season.....argh. The best local golf of the year is coming up in October & November.

Okay, then I definitely believe they cost at least $75 to make. At any rate, it I definitely feel for the OP. I know what it feels like to have your heart set on something and then have the deal fall through. Happened on a car for me once. Damn dealer sold it out from under me. OP, I hope you get your Scotty soon. Hopefully Santa will bring you one - maybe with one of those $300 ltd edition holiday headcovers.

I got a SCOTTY FUTURA PHANTOM at the begining of the year and I love it. I just wish that I had played more this summer. I still have a month and a half to play, and I am going to golf a lot more in that time.
I hope that you love your SCOTTY.

After a canceled sale fiasco last week, I just ordered a brand new Newport 2 and have that feeling of hope all over again. The only equipment additions I made this year were a new sand wedge and trying the B330RX's balls ... this putter should put a little excitement into the final days of the 2009 season. You know the saying "hope springs eternal" really applies to new putters. I'm already daydreaming about sinking all these mid-range putts.

Unfortunately, my organized golf group's last Saturday outing is tomorrow and I really don't have any individuals I play with regularly ...

You were right on ... I paid $220 shipped for a new putter. But the previous seller backing out (b/c of their mistake) robbed me of the opportunity to debut it in front of my golf crew. It'll have to wait until opening day next spring now.

I'm in Central Pennsylvania where the average high is 67 degrees in October (and 54 in Nov) so really the season has another 2 months at the most but you get my drift ... winter sucks when you get a golf jones ... especially when the wifey won't let me run off for a golf weekend somewhere warm.

I went to Golfsmith to buy a Odyssey 2ball and walked out with a Scotty Cameron KOMBI 35". I love the feel and the sound of this putter.

You go, my friend. Once you choose a milled face over the insert, I'd be surprised if you ever went back. The lack of an insert just makes the impact much more consistent. I joined the club earlier this year and am really pleased with my purchase.

You got that right, Bunky.

My Tools of Ignorance:

Driver: Ping I20 9.5*
Woods/Hybrids: Cobra AMP 3W and 3 HY

Irons: Cobra AMP 4-GW

Wedges: Callaway Forged Copper 56* and 60*

Putters: Scotty Cameron  35" (Several of the flow neck blade variety)

Ball: Bridgestone B330-RX and Srixon Z-Star

Bag: Nike Performance Carry

I tested the Kombi as well but ended up going for the Odyssey XG Hot Sabertooth (the same insert as the Two Ball) so I did the opposite of what you did. My main reason? I putted equally well with both of them but the Sabertooth cost half the price of the Kombi.

    • Day 24: 5/15/25 Chipping on indoor carpet and some weight shift work.
    • Day 44 - Hit some wedges with the intention of working on my 100-yard shot, but instead worked the face a bit. Intentionally trying to hit the toe, heel, and center of the face. I definitely have a heel bias, but focusing on turning my body helped to get things in the center.
    • I think for this, I need to work on my weight transfer. I can feel my self looking up early and falling back slightly. So, I am hitting them a bit fat right now. I need to stay on my left side better or get to my left side better. Kind of like old pattern stuff.  Yep, I was a bit worried about the driver since we didn't get to it. First drive was a push draw because I moved the ball back a bit because there is no range to warm up and I wanted to make sure contact was good. I hit it great, just pushed it slightly. I was like, OK, this will work. I moved the ball back to the normal position and the next 4 out of 5 holes I used a driver was just the ball at most 10 yards off my target line. 😃
    • Sounds good for the full swing stuff!
    • Didn’t score the best, but probably the best I’ve done implementing the swing feels on the course.  Preshot routine - make one practice swing hands down only hitting  the ground like 3 ft behind the ball. Make a 2nd practice swing where I add a bit of turn back in.  Set up and make a swing with those feels. Driver - A stripe show. Just laser beams at my target. Like under 10 yards of curve. Irons - pretty solid. Contact was flush. Just slight pull draws. Just need a bit of face control. It’s close. I had an 8 iron that left the club, didn’t leave the flagstick. The ball probably moved 1 yard in the air. I came up like 4 yards short.  Distance wedges - Needs work.  Short Game - needs work from different lies. Putting - Made almost everything inside of 10 ft.  Going forwards, still going to work on the swing. Backswing length and arms down stuff. I need to work on my distance wedges a lot.
