I'm not just a "major watcher" when it comes to golf viewership, but I feel I'm in the minority. I will watch coverage of Ben Crane putting on a practice green just to watch these guys play (slight exageration- it takes too long to watch Ben Crane do anything).

How many of us will be watching this weekend as a pretty weak field hits Milwaukee? Do yall watch week in and week out with disregard to tourney or story lines? Just wondering.

The PGA Tour has an event this week? Really?

Just kidding. I'll watch a little, but I'm gonna be paying more attention to the Evian Masters, to be honest. Creamer is playing well again, Wie is in the field, and Gulbis is having a good year. Then the Women's British follows...

If CH3, Hunter Mahan, Scott Verplank, or Ryan Moore get themselves in contention this week in Milwaukee, I'll definitely tune in. I follow several golfers that aren't ranked in the top 20 or top 30 in the world. If these four all have bad starts, I probably won't watch much because the field is the worst one so far in 2006 (with the exception of cross events during the Match Play and British Open).

I usually watch a little golf every weekend, with the exception of the extremely weak-fielded events. There are a lot of people who will only watch when Tiger and Phil play, but I'm not nearly that picky. Those people miss out on some great tournaments (Wachovia comes to mind).

As for the events I watch religiously (every minute of TV coverage just about), those are the four majors, Match Play Championship, Players Championship, Ryder Cup, and Presidents Cup. I watch those eight events like crazy, and I even watch the Tour Championship, and other WGC events pretty closely.

As for this weekend, I'll watch some of the LPGA action along with Erik. I don't mind watching them at all when all the young guns are in the field (even Michelle Wie).

Let's just hope my Okie State boys along with Ryan Moore show up in Milwaukee this week.

I find that I pretty much only watch PGA tourneys if Tiger is in the field...it is hard for me to get excited about the Ben Crane's. Other than that the only golf I will watch are LPGA majors, particularly if a certain someone is on the leaderboard. :)

I'll watch some this week but it has more to do with the course (Brown Deer) as opposed to the players (nice to see the PGA play a public course that only sets you back $75 and only $35 with a discount card if you live in Milwaukee County). Probably spend more time watching the LPGA . . .

I probably watch the LPGA more also. At least they only outdrive me by 25-35 yards instead of 75. I almost never watch the champions tour and only brief moments of European Tour. Of course I would choose practice or play first any day.

In my case it is simple - if I'm not playing myself - I'm watching it all - PGA, LPGA(TIVO'it when Michelle is in the field

), EPGA... If I'm on the links - highlight reel at TGC or ESPN has to do There is no limit to a addiction

Excluding all of the majors and other big events (players championship, match play etc), I prefer to watch the nationwide and euro tour events...even though the coverage isn’t great its nice to watch golf instead of having it thrown down your throat like it feels in the other smaller events on the PGA tour, that seem not to mean a whole lot. And like a few have said before, I would like to be out playing instead of watching

I really enjoy these tournaments. It is nice to see some of the younger guys in the hunt, plus the journeymen who are all about keeping their cards... To me, that would be the life... Play golf all the time, retain your anonymity, and actually make good money... Right now number 100 on the money list is $573,434... I have to work about 12 years to make that...

don't give up your job that fast eli

There was a article last year in GolfDigest breaking down the budget of a guy, who finished 125th (last spot to keep the card). I don't remember the details, but after all that travel, hotel, rental cars, food, etc, etc. he made something around $40K net (pre-tax). And this was after endorsments and free equipment. I'd say if you not in top 50 - life on the tour ain't that glamorous... Especially if you have a family - you're not spending much time at home... Ok, who am I kidding. I'd take it in a second

Actually I saw a similar article about a guy on the Nike tour a few years ago, I think he won around $90,000 and said that he didn't break even untill around $75,000... So maybe I willl move up to about the 50th spot ($1,041,208) and be a little famous
