You should try again. He meant government officials generally.

Gee, that one really did whizz right over my head back there. Thanks for the creative response. Do you really feel better with your health care in the hands of a corporate board whose only fiduciary duty is to maximize returns to their shareholders? Remember, it's not a question of is X perfect, it's is X better than Y. And if Y is what we have now, it doesn't take much to improve.

Back vaguely on topic, I agree with the guy above about Cali politics and government. This state is screwed up on so many levels-- once I finish the degree I'm out of here. Nice weather, nice outdoors, nice golf season, but so much to dislike. Haven't heard anything about the courses around here, though.. the munis I play seem to be buzzing with activity.

In the bag:

T-Zoid Forged 15° 3W, MX-23 4-PW
Harmonized 52° GW, Tom Watson 56° SW, X-Forged Vintage 60° LW
White Hot XG #1 Putter, 33"

Wow, I'm glad I got the hell out of there.

I am not sure how to do handicaps, I really stink at golf, I just go out and play with my son ALOT. When I did that handicap I just figured I usually score a 72 for 9 holes so it would be about a 72 for 18 holes

Maybe my bad playing is why they are closing it lol!!

This sadly is something that seems to be happening weekly across the US because of the huge boom of golf courses it has finally caught up. My mother-n-law purchsed a house in Baton Rouge right near a golf course. They should it about 6 months after the purchase with a huge fight from the land owners. The properties of their homes went down immediately but was told it would rise because of the new homes that were going to be built. Sadly, I can buy a new home near hers with about 1000 more sq ft for around the same price what she locked her house in for... It sucks...

Hrm... now I don't feel so bad about L.A. just cutting the maintenance budget and refusing to refill bunkers.

Bummer to hear about the courses, though. There are some nice courses just a little south of you in San Bernadino, but I'm sure that's not the most fun drive.

So weird all the public courses are having issues around you guys.

Around here the public courses actually turn a profit. One of the few things that does. So the county actually takes reasonably good care of them.

Maybe it's a warm weather state issue. Here the golf season only lasts 7 months so perhaps we don't have as many semi-private clubs. Although it seems like there's a golf course every 5 miles.

I'm not gonna lie, I have no idea what you are talking about in your response. All I said was that he was being general, then you come up with some uber political answer.

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

Sorry to both you guys, I'm just a bit touchy about the topic lately (maybe you can tell). I think I inferred the wrong tone in the original post and your response.

    • Yes. If you choose to take the ball out of the bunker instead of taking maximum available relief… it costs a stroke.
    • I got another one today....Number 17. Par 5 that has water left and right on the layup. I smacked a drive down the left side and got a little lazy on the layup and fanned my 6 iron. With 112 to a crowned green I got it to 3 feet and birdie!  Only 5 and 15 is left for this year!
    • Maybe I didn’t explain this properly. Back and front can be confusing.  There was no place in the bunker that didn’t have 2-3 inches of rain water in it, except for a small spot on the slope nearest the pin. If I had dropped there I would be moving 6-7 feet closer to the hole. Since my ball was just inside the bunker, farthest side from the hole, I dropped one club length backward, which brought me out of the bunker. I could not have hit from that deep of water. Are you saying I would have had to take a penalty stroke due to rain water?
    • Day 550, May 5, 2024 Got a good hour in with a typical (for me) two-stick setup: pool noodle angled in front, yardstick on the ground angled 45° behind me.
    • Day 130: Cinco de Mayo Day 7/24 of Full Speed Spectrum training. Difficult training day after struggling to certify my warmup yesterday, and today. Finished 13 mph lower than my training speed on Thursday. Hope to hit some balls today.
