It's hard to choose just one......so many great clubmakers.

I selected PING, though. I really appreciate their longstanding principles of making clubs to fit you....no extra charge....very efficient. They consitently release high quality products as well.

Where's callaway - not saying it's my favourite but it's part of what i consider to be the 'big 4': Taylormade, Callaway, Titleist and Ping/Nike.

I will second the vote for Callaway. Reason? They are just what I hit well after trying several different brands. To me they are pretty forgiving clubs.

My god, you did not include Mizuno or Miura. I voted other for those two reasons.

has to be Ping, consistently been making high quality clubs that put Function>Form. Which is important to me. Its also nice to buy clubs that feel nice and soft but will last more than 2 years like forged counterparts.

Are you a paid operative of TaylorMade, or what?

You didn't mention Callaway? Golf industry numbers for FY 2007 show that Callaway had top market share in irons and putters, and was #2 in woods and golf balls. Check the details:

http://http://www.wikinvest.com/stoc..._Company_(ELY)

Callaway is my favorite, I guess. Just look in my bag.

That said, I have great respect for Titleist and Ping. Both had irons that ran a close second to Callaway when I refitted this spring. Choosing irons was really tough - lots of solid models have emerged in the last two years. And, Mizuno irons are coming on strong - several small-college male golfers have them in their bags, as well as some of the better players on this blog.

Other observations:
* Don't forget Adams golf. I know plenty of people who played the Tight Lies woods.
* I feel sad that MacGregor may be slipping away. I played MacGregor MT irons from 1974 to 1994. I pulled off some fantastic shots with those clubs (and some not-so-good shots too).

Maybe a better question would be, what golf club manufacturers do you respect?

In my opinion, you can't beat Taylor Made's woods. Then for me I think it's Titleist on everything else. Bob Vokey and Scotty Cameron is a dynamic duo.

For me it's a tie between Taylormade and Titleist. Both are top quality with every club.

That's what I said. Mp-14, Grad MPs, and MacGregor Miura PCB Tours here. Next set I get will be MP-33. I have never even owned a Callaway, Adams, Titleist or Cobra golf club. I think Callaway has never made a decent looking or feeling iron. Obviously, the OP just listed mostly brands that are in his bag. Well, it is his post, so that makes sense.

Cleveland, I'm not really sure why. I have hit Clevelands for a while and I generally love their stuff. Probably going to take advantage of their buy an iron set get the next set free deal that is going on right now.

I've liked Callaway irons. I had never really hit anything by Nike. I stopped by Golftown today in search of a new driver. I hit a few different ones when the kid brought me a Nike. WOW.

As far as irons are concerned, I would list them in this order - all of these being forged iron options:

1) Hoffman (e.g. MacGregor Nicklaus Miurfield Customs)
2) Miura
3) Mizuno
