I've made it to the final match in my Club Championship and I know that nerves are going to play a part because I've never had the chance to win something like this.

Those of you that have played under pressure, what are your best tips for dealing with the mental side of a big match???

I would really appreciate some tips. Who's my Bob Rotella out there?

I know it's easier said than done but you've got to not let any bad shots get you upset. I know it's very cliche but all you can do is hit one shot at a time. If you get bent out of shape and upset, your muscles aren't going to do what they're supposed to. I've got a phrase that I repeat in my mind during practice swings and as I address the ball. "Tempo, Jason, Tempo"

I agree. No matter what happens, once the ball leaves the clubface there is nothing you can do about it anymore and you have to accept the results. If you accept the results then you can immediately start focusing on the next shot. Make sure you stay with your routine for every shot and putt. Don't dwell on bad shots.

Good Luck man!!! Our club championships are coming up this month.

Also never give up. If you bombed your front nine, never never give up. I've turned potential terrible rounds into great rounds by never giving up. Always stay positive and your mental thoughts shouldnt be "dont hit it in the lake", but it should be "I am going to hit the green". Over every putt say to yourself " I am going to make this putt". Self confidence is huge. Take deep breaths and stay as calm and positive as possible on every shot. Trust me, I play roughly 15 tournaments a year. Also, the more tournaments you play, the better you will be at handling the pressure. I hope this helps and good luck in your club championship.

Very good advice by the previous two posters. The club will very much feel different in your hands. Everything will feel different. Just try and play your game, and yes, one shot at a time. Don't think ahead about possibly winning the Championship. Keep it in the moment at hand. Like others have said put the bad shots behind you. And remember, you cannot control what your opponent does. Expect them to play well and pull off some unbelievable shots. There will most likely be a hole that you appear to have all but won. Then your opponent does the incredible to either halve or win the hole. You will have to be able to rebound from that and not let it affect the next several holes. Good luck!
