Best Golf Movie

I think the same about almost all sports movies. For me it's probably that actors have a very hard time duplicating the mechanics of professional athletes. Every time I see an actor swing a golf club, baseball bat, or throw a football or baseball when they are supposed to be portraying a professional I cringe a little.

That said, I still enjoy them enough to watch.

P.S. I think Kevin Costner comes closer to looking natural in baseball or golf than most actors. Can't say the same for Don Johnson or Mat Damon, although I think they are good actors.

Tin Cup is entertaining, but not because it's a great golf movie. It's just entertaining on its own. The Legend of Bagger Vance was disappointing to me, but only because the book is one of my favorites. I didn't think the film lived up to the book, but they never seem to.

As far as drama/serious golf movies I guess it's a tie for me between Greatest Game and Bagger Vance. I never read the Bagger Vance book so that's probably why I like the movie. I use to read a lot of Steven King and whenever a movie of his came out it would absolutely suck compared to the book.

For comedy/chick flicks the original Caddy Shack is about a million miles ahead of anything else for me. I tried to like Tin Cup but Costner turned it into more or less a chick flick and the ending was written by a 3rd grader in my opinion. Happy Gilmour had some funny scenes but overall just the same old Adam Sandler cookie cutter comedy. Caddy Shack 2 was for the most part unwatchable but Randy Quaid as the crazy lawyer had a couple funny moments.

I recently saw 7 days in utopia and I didn't have a lot of expectations going in which was a good thing. I thought I was watching a golf version of the kids movie "Cars" and I think Robert Duvall thought he was doing a remake of Days of Thunder: "Now Cole, Your burning up the damn tires"! This movie was just bad, bad, bad!

lol you had low expectations and the movie still sucked.  Might have to watch this thing just to see how bad it is.

Watched a documentary on netflix last week called "the short game" following kids preparing to play in the junior world championships at pinehurst. Fantastic and well worth watching, got quite emotional and was s fascinating insight into how to/how not to nurture talent.

I agree my wife and I watched this movie and we both really enjoyed it. My 2 year old even sat down for almost 5 mins with his plastic club in his hands. (Thats huge) I dont want to give away anything about the movie, but there was one part that realllllly pissed me off. I'll just say theres a kid that got royally screwed over..............ok Im gonna calm down now. lol

I own The Caddy and love it.  I think for more serious golf movies, Follow the Sun is my favorite, not necessarily the best though.  Haha.  I just like the older movies.
