Infield fly rule was not in effect because there was not a force at every base (except home). I think that's how it works.

Anyway, props to Burnett; he pitched great.

Was he thinking of letting it drop and then throwing to second base? Was that an option? Was the infield fly rule in effect? It looked like a last second decision to catch it.

Infield fly wasnt in affect. Runners have to be on 1st and 2nd at least.

AJ Burnett was STELLAR last night. Headed to Philly tied up!

I'm pretty disappointed in the Phillies last night; Pedro really wasn't that bad. The two homers hit off him were pretty good pitches I thought. 8 Ks in 6-7 innings is pretty good too; Burnett was just better. I'm glad they're coming to Philly with a split though.

Last nights game was pretty much the exact game as the first one, just the teams switched places.

That is comparing the pitching... Pedro was good... AJ was brilliant. In game one... CC was good... Lee was brilliant. I was expecting a split, but vise versa. Cant wait for the game Saturday. I think whoever wins game 3... wins the series in 6!

My favorite part of last night's game was Pedro's post game interview. He said "If I were a Yankee, these people would worship me." As a diehard Yankee fan, I could not agree more. Had the team been smart enough to trade Ruben Rivera, Rickey Ledee and such for Pedro, it would have been 8 years of dominance in the Bronx. He has and always will be my favorite pitcher. Having seen him pitch in person, including sitting three rows behind home plate, I can't tell you how much I absolutely heart Pedro.

I was glad the Yankees won, obviously and I'm even more happy watching two teams that have had outstanding starting pitching. 2 ER from CC in 7 innings, 1 ER in 7 innings from Burnett. You can't complain if you're a Yankee fan.

It's still going to go 7 and hopefully they'll be celebrating in the right clubhouse.

If the Phillies can take two at home I think they'll take the cake

Hamels, Blanton, then Lee

If they get the bats going like in game 1 it should be good. Game 2 was rough, but just 1 hit in a big spot and that game would have been a philly win. Good series so far, lets see how these AL guys do without their beloved DH!

As long as Hamels has his location down, he'll be unstoppable. I suppose that's stating the obvious, though...

I don't think Hamels is that good. He's had one season with under 5 losses. That doesn't seem that great. He did very well in the playoffs last year, but I kinda think it was a mistake.

Pedro pitched well (much better than I thought he was gonna). Burnett pitched great. That's why the Yanks won. Both teams have great offenses, but whichever pitches better will win the game...it's been the case so far.

He's excellent if he can hit spots; he has a very good repertoire of pitches. He isn't too spectacular because he's very hit-or-miss with his outings. He's either great or he isn't; there's nothing in between.

I agree with you. The results of the first two games prove that the two teams are well matched. The one question now is how the Yankees will do without using a DH. That puts Matsui on the bench, where he can be used as a pinch hitter. Even though the Yankees did have inter league games this season, this is the Series, and the no DH rule in the NL parks is a definite advantage to the Phils.

I think you might see Matsui in right feild for at least one game.Against Hammells they will go back to Swisher for one more try and if he doesnt bust out than you see Godzilla.

I don't think Pettitte is as good as Hamels. His ERA is ppretty high (over 4 in the past 4 years) in the regular season, and it's not that much lower for his post-season ERA. Plus, Pettitte has like a .270 BAA, while Hamels has only .245. Phils will hit Pettitte. They can hit lefties and Pettitte really isn't good enough to shut the Phils down. He may, but I don't think he'll get the W.

Jesus Christ. Hamels started off great for the first 3 innings but then he completely lost his location and started tossing pitches right down the middle. The only corner he was working was the one in the back of the plate...

You are right, and Pettitte went in the other direction. First, he could not find the plate and loaded up the bases. Then, HE WALKED IN A RUN in the World Series! When Hamels laid down a bunt, Pettitte and Posada got to the ball and stared at each other as if to say, "I thought that YOU had it". 3-0 Phils. Looked like it was all over. Then, the roof caved in. Victorino, Utlery and Howard went ZERO for ELEVEN. You should NOT win ball games when your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th hitters shoot blanks, Thank God for Werth or the Phils would not have been in the game. What is wrong with Ryan Howard? A Rod finally did SOMETHING with his homer off Hamels. Hoawrd looks totally lost at the plate!
