I think that as an athlete matures they tend to really hone their craft and that is when the great ones really become great. Obviously there is a pretty small window in years for most sports, but in golf, the window is much bigger. I think a great golfer from the age of 30 - 40 should be in his prime. I also think that Tiger Woods is going to win a large number of tournaments in the next 10 years. I also think that Sergio will come into form in the next 3-4 years and, as he matures, will also start winning tournaments. I think this is true for Phil Mickelson, Vijay, Retief Goosen, Ernie Els, DiMarco, and many more...

Just wondering what everyone else thinks...

Tiger will amaze us all every time he tees it up for the next 15 to 20 years unless he decided to stop playing. He is just an awesome talent and he seems to never stop hitting those shots that make all our jaws drop.

Um, yeah. Way to go out on a limb with this poll.

Sorry to waste your time... I am sure you have more important things to do than to read my posts...

Um, yeah. Way to go out on a limb with this poll.

But seriously - I dare somebody to vote NO and give a reasonable explanation why...(Cody, the "they'll ban the steroids in PGA and he'll be finished!" does NOT qualify as reasonable!!!)

He was making a comment. I found it amusing. He wasn't being critical of you. He was saying "it's as good as done," basically, which comments on his conviction re: the answer he gave to the question you posted.

My own answer depends on the definition of the word "dominate," but if his play in his 20s counts as "dominating" then I say he will dominate in his 30s, too.

I guess we all have our own sense of humour... I was being sarcastic back, I guess I took the comments as a slag at me...

Anyway, I guess I was thinking about how Tiger played at The Open and how Sergio played and what I was getting at is how Tiger has matured a lot in his game, and I see Sergio getting there eventually, as well... But I really think that we have not seen Tiger's best golf yet, and he will dominate for the next 10 years and surpass Jack in the record books... And a year or so ago a lot of people were saying that Tiger was washed up and that he would never beat Jack's records, blah blah blah...

Ten years on tour Tiger already has 49 wins, 11 majors, and the year's not over. Amazingly he has made 195 cuts and finished 3rd or better 76 times... that's right at 40% in the top 3 when he is in the money. Most tour players hope for a few top tens, where Tiger has 127 (65%) top tens when he is playing on the weekend.

Given that most golfers peak in their 30s, the answer has to be "yes". One would expect him to continue to far out-perform anyone else in the game.

Rafi, you bastard, you beat me to it.

There is honestly no way in hell Tiger will slow down anytime soon unless health becomes an issue (severe back pain, etc.). I don't have to like the guy, but I darn sure have to respect the guy. He is awesome and will win another 9 or 10 majors in his 30s. The question is still worth asking though. You never know what this life will bring. If anyone would have said David Duval would fall off the golfing planet for a few years, everyone would have stoned that person. Crazier things have happened, but it's not at all likely.

OK, I'll play the "devils advocate" and say NO! The reason I'm saying that has nothing to do with his ability (he is the best player at golf on the planet right now) but I'm wondering if he will play in enough events to stay on top. He will play all the majors and will dominate those but over all will he dominate the tour and all it's events? I question that and stand for correction! Alot of times marriage and outside pressures come into play.

I think that he will have a very similar 30's as he did 20's. When we look back, I think that they will be very similar.

Absolutely!! Moreso then now as he learns how to control his emotions more as he gets older

He has to play 15 events to remain a member of the PGA Tour... And he doesn't play many more than that now, so it's not like he can really cut back much.

He's off to a nice start...

During his win at the Buick Open, Woods carded four consecutive rounds of 66 that each featured 10 pars, seven birdies and one bogey. Don't kid yourself. Unless he gets hurt, he'll break every record there is and still be huge factor when he's 40+.

When Tiger first started playing with Jack and Arnie, Jack made the comment...."This kid will win more majors than Arnie and I put together". He just might be right!

That's not what he said. He said "Masters."

    • Day 314 - Putting some things together. Better grip/setup, fuller backswing, better finishing position. Filmed some swings, happy with the progress.
    • Day 130: did a stack session.
    • Day 206 (24 Nov 24)  - An easy session with the 54deg wedge and hard foam balls / one simple goal - distance control thru backswing length while not decelerating.  Had a playing partner comment they noticed me decelerating on a couple short wedge shots in last round.  Hit from distances from close to 40yds down to 20.
    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
