Gipper lost three balls in the water on one hole; knowing Mike's predicament after leaving his approach well left of the green, there's no excuse for trying a 1-in-20 shot instead of making the safe play and laying up, especially after finding the hazard twice just moments before.

Same thought here, but the kid is what 18 years old? And those constant "Gotta put the pressure on the other guy" thoughts from both brothers. You play the course. Unless this TV stuff makes them insufferable, they should learn in the future.

Has Golf Channel ever followed a few guys into Q-school to see how far they go? That could be a brutal reality show.

i'd take the bet that either gipper or toney will win a pga tourney...

I'm surprised ya'll bag on Toney's short game as much as you do... he's gotten up and down much more often than not on the show as far as I've seen.

Kid can chip, when he gets more confidence with the putter he'll be dangerous.

You know what would be an awesome plugin for vBulletin?

One that would give everyone cash for something (I don't know what - but it'd be virtual cash - or maybe reputation points...) and then let you make "bets" on things and then disbursed the "virtual cash" to the winners. Just a thought. Back to the regularly scheduled thread.

completely agree.

In other news.... Kevin skates by again.

Toney has shown a tendencey to break down at crucial times. I'm putting my money on Mike.

Sorry, this has probably already been discussed, but this thread is so long. Anyway, a question for the swing technicians. Why do you think Kevin is consistently missing right with his full swing? Is it a swing flaw(s) or nerves? Certainly no yip in his putting stroke.

Hard to tell because they never really show his ball flight. Don't know if it's just a big block or a slice.

I think either Mike or Kevin will win it all. As stated earlier, Tony seems to crumble a bit under pressure.

Kevin has one of the ugliest swings I've seen in a while... his follow through makes me want to vomit.

You think Kevin earned his spot and DONT think Andrew has game! Tell me you are kidding, if you think Kevin does, what has shown you that Andrew doesnt. Andrew IS the reason Kevin made it passed the pairing show. I agree Kevin has hit shots when he needed it, but after watching Andrew stick bunker shots over trees to 10 feet, beating Tony in H2H, being at or near the top of EVERY immunity challenge, and only really missing TWO shots the entire show (one of which costs him the show and that was a flier lie that was right on the flag stick)....I dont see how you can say he does not have game.

I hear what your saying, Andrew did hit some nice shots in the "Made for Big Break Challenges" but when it finally came to a H2H, in a real golf match he finally crumbled. Basically he had to face someone that was throwing shot after shot at the flagstick, much like he would find on the PGA Tour and it wore him down.

Who knows, golf is a strange game full of the unexpected. Maybe Andrew might make it on tour someday, but I would put money down against it happening. Just my opinion! As far as Kevin goes, I don't particularly like the fact he made it this far. Lets just say he's had a lot of help, but he has been by far, and I mean by far, the best putter on the show. He is the only one that seems to be able to putt at the PGA Tour level. His full swing is a whole different story. It's at about the Sophmore High School level,,,lol! All these guy's are missing something in thier game and for Kevin it's his full swing, but we all know putting is what wins tournaments so yes, I'm sticking to my statement that Kevin earned his way there strickly on putting.

Actually what happened to Andrew is he put a ball in the lake. Kind of the same thing that took gip down, haha. If gipper did not sink a ball, he would have won. If Andrew did not sink a ball, he would have won.

I heard Kevin mention on one drive he was aiming at a bunker on the left side of the fairway, and he still hit the right rough! And after Gip drove it in the water, I think they did show Kevin's ball flight briefly (the one he said "chicken, chicken" after). It looked like a pull-cut. But, hey, he got the job done.

I'll add on to Parker's assessment. None of the three remaining players can play on tour right now. I'm unimpressed. A decent player would have eliminated Kevin weeks ago.
  • Perez is a complete hot-head
  • Tony is too soft
  • Kevin is a weekend hack

If you could merge all three guys, take Perez' attitude and guts, take Tony's distance and tempo, and Kevin's putting stroke, then you have a PGA Tour player.

Giuliani's kid is a complete prick. I do not like his arrogance.

ima member of another forum(non golf related) and they have a virtual bank and the more you post the more you 'earn' in virtual money... they also have a virtual store with items like change your user name/ new signature/ smilies/ etc etc... we've had massive football pools in the past...

anyways... i had a feeling gipper wasnt going to make it... erdman has to be the luckiest big breaker ever... sometimes its better to be lucky than skilled... perez's percentages are pretty good... but he did chunk a few chips here an there... tony is a prime example of longballers that can be beat by shorter hitters... just because you can hit it a mile doesnt mean its gonna automatically go in the hole for you
RUSS's avg drive - 230yrds and climbing

The biggest problem with big break is that anyone can have a few good days and end up eliminating someone who is 10x their skill level because they happen to be having a few bad days.

If the golf gods say so, a 36 Handicap can beat a scratch golfer in elimination.

After watching every show thus far, I'm of the belief that none of these guys will be good enough to play on the PGA Tour.

Tony is "stupid long," as they've said many times on the show - but not nearly consistent enough of a ball striker or putter. Most of these holes they've played have very forgiving landing areas with short, easy rough. If he drove the ball like that on the tour, he'd be hacking out of the rough and missing cuts every week.

Mike has got the ball striking down - lots of fairways and greens - but even admitted himself on the last show that he's not a good enough putter.

And Kevin obviously doesn't have the swing, but he can sure putt. Combine each of their three talents, and you're looking at a PGA-caliber player.

It'll be interesting to see which style prevails on the full final. With this modest course length and setup, I think any of them have a chance...

A couple people have posted that Gipper was faking his shoulder injury to have an excuse. I recall several swings where he took his right hand off the club very very early ... maybe before impact. It's very unlikely he'd continuously do that just to have an out ...

That's an indication of poor plane on the downswing. More swing fault than injury.
