Most Forgiving Driver in your opinion!!

Im thinking of looking for a bargain now the winter months are coming and gonna look for a new driver!! Just wanted too ask peoples thoughts on what they think is the most forgiving driver out there at the minute!!!??

ping v2 rapture?
Taylormade R9?
Ping G15?
etc??????????????????????????????

Rapture v2 no, good for average to better player
R9 Definetely good because of adjustability
G 15 Have not heard much ,but what i have heard is it is great.
Also have you considered nickent 4dx evolver has the most settting of adjustability in the industry. Als nike dymo

I think the r9 460 would be the best option because its very forgiving, and if its not forgiving enough as it is, you can change the Lie angle as well as the degree open or closed that it is!!!! That is on nice club! Jim

Is getting a driver fitting an option for you? Picking the right shaft and clubhead will provide the best driver for you.

I've been through 3 drivers in the past 14 months.....I'm stupid that way.

PING G10, Nike Sumo 5900, Taylor Made R9 460.


Ranking them on forgiveness:

1. PING G10....excellent results all over the face
2. Taylor Made R9 460...forgiving all over the face
3. Nike Sumo 5900....dead below equator...hot in center and upwards...forgiving on upper heal and toe

Ranking them on distance:

1. PING G10...this head is hot....tatered some drives ridiculous distances
2. Nike Sumo 5900....good distance, no complaints
3. R9 460....wasn't impressed at all with distance with this stick.

Looking back, I should have kept the G10 and simply reshafted it.

I won my current driver on an ebay auction...new...for a steal. I had the tiny stock grip replaced with a midsized grip on Saturday.....rained out of my round today...gonna be 9 days or more until I can play or practice due to work schedule. I've gamed a driver very close to this one before but not the TP version. I'm hoping it will work out well.

I'm very interested in trying out a PING G15....10.5* with the Serrano shaft. Been waiting for my local dealer to get demos.

I have had the following....

Nike SQ 5000 (beginner and could not hit a driver so won't comment on this driver other than it was loud and long)

Cleveland High Bore XLS Draw (Sorted my Fade/Slice out and was long 220-240 all the time and very consistent, only down side was after a while the high ball flight was not to my liking hence me changing driver)

Ping G10 Pro Launch Red (bought as the replacement for the Cleveland, Pro Launch Red for lower ball flight worked very well but after hitting it on the range in neutral and long and straight I rushed and did not wait for a Draw in 10.5 to be ordered, so once I got it on the course I could not hit straight and I was back to fading/slicing every shot so it was sold)

Nike Dymo SQ Str8-fit (set draw 2 deg closed and once again I am back to straight drives, great distance and lower ball flight even with stock shaft so this will be in my bag until it breaks, I will be trying to set the closed 2 deg back to neutral over time which is why this driver stood out along with the R9 460)

I also hit the R9 460 (when trying the Nike SQ Dymo and chose the Nike as it hit further and more consistently straighter than the R9, but the R9 was gonna be my choice until I hit the Nike)

But out of all I would say that the Cleveland has to be the most forgiving of all I have hit, so out of the above if you are a beginner or someone who likes a higher ball flight the Cleveland is the one for you, plus with Monster out now the older High Bore XLS should be cheap...

How about Cobra?.......the LD M Speed Offs et is easily available on ebay for pocket change.

I used it for 2 years...terrific results.

I upgraded to the L5V with the adjustable shaft as the offset was no longer needed for my swing.

I think all modern 460cc drivers are terribly forgiving, I'd go with whichever one feels/looks good to you at address and during your swing.

The '07 Burner is cheap and forgiving. My friend Bob one and the '07 Burner 3fw after hitting mine and now two of his friends have bought them. These clubs are very affordable. That is the point of the Burner line.

Ideally going to be custom fit would be best option but places i can go like american golf or direct golf have launch monitors etc but never have a variety of shaft options too try!!

Ive heard that the nike str8 fit sounds a bit tinny!! Anyone experienced that? As for r9 460 would i not be best too spend a touch more and get the top r9 model??

Consider the TM Burners ('07 or '09). They're affordable and simple. I tried the R9 along with others in the higher price range. I was not impressed. I like the Burner because it's really light. My mishits end up as decent drives, but I think you're going to find that with any 460 driver. For me, the most important aspect was how it felt at address. It's a 46.25 shaft, but it feels right on the tee box.

what didnt you like about the r9 460? Ive shortlisted the nike str8 fit and r9 460!! Next thing is do i get r9 460 or r9 460 tp!!?? dunno what one would suit me best!! The other thing is would a light or heavy shaft suit me in whatever club i go for? Surely heavy shaft for quick swingers!!??

Normally I can't hit a driver without hooking it to save my life, despite I am knock down with any iron, but I was hitting a friends R7 (set up for a draw) and the ball was actually flying to where I wanted it too.
