Hi guys just a quick question about the r9 460 and the TP version!! I know the r9 460 TP version has a Fujikura Motore F1 65 graphite shaft fitted and the r9 460 version has the Aldila RE*AX® 60-gram tip-soft shaft!!

What are your thoughts on which version maybe best suited to me!! I play of 13 and have swing speed around 95-100 mph and have a slight fade!!

Any feedback or info about the 2 clubs or shafts would be great!!

the only real suggestion i can give you is that you should play a stiff shaft in your driver but i see that you do already. the TP is more workable and slightly less forgiving so if you struggle to find the sweetspot then the TP might not be the right club. the aldila RE-AX will launch the ball higher than the Motore which being slightly heavier will give you more control. you hit both clubs and see which one you like best.

The only difference of the two is the shafts. The TP is not any harder to hit; just a stiffer-heavier shaft. I would for sure recommend the regular R9 with the stiff shaft. That will match your swing speed perfectly. The TP shaft will be a little heavy and stiff for that swing speed. If you ever get closer to 115 then you can thank about moving up to 70-75g.

Thanks for replies guys! I orginally had my R7 limited drive with a regular matrix x-con 5.5 shaft fitted with it and did ok with it but was told by pro that this was wrong and i needed a stiff shaft for my swing speed so i went and got v2 stiff shaft fitted but im still not great with it!! Driving is the one area that is really hurting my game and wont lower scores until i address this problem!! Any advice on shafts and clubs would be really useful!!

thanks

EXACTLY what I was saying. Don't fall for the TP logo on the driver thinking you cant hit it. The stiffer and more expensive shaft is the only difference. Now the irons are different, the TP do have a smaller sweet spot and lower ball flight for lower handicaps.

For advice on helping out your driving, it is really impossible to REALLY help without seeing you hit or knowing your problem (and people on here will try and tell you PERFECT advice to solve all your problems, but that is simply not true). All the lower handicap - regulars on these boards always say the same as I am saying. The one thing I can say, which was confirmed by your pro is that you definitely need a stiff shaft. If you can elaborate on what kind of problems you are having some of us can possibly give you the common faults to that problem. But, if you are looking to solve all your driving mistakes with new equipment, that will not happen. THE DRIVER DOESN'T MISS THE FAIRWAY, YOU DO! But having the correct equipment can help, but I guarantee if you address some swing or setup faults you can hit your current driver straight.

In this model, yes. In other models of driver the non-TP models were heel-weighted (thus hook- or left-biased).

Actually the R9 and R9 TP heads are the same too. Because I was shopping for both with my rep and he told me the heads were the exact same just different upgrade options.

Yes, and by "model" I meant the "R9," not just the 460 variant. To me, the 460 versus the other is kind of like the SE/LE trim level in the same model car. Plus, if we lump things together like that, TaylorMade doesn't release 1736 different "models" each year - only 632 or so.

Also whats peoples thoughts on what loft maybe best suited too!! 9.5 or 10.5 degree??? I hit my 10.5 about 280 but if i go too 9.5 degree is gonna be harder to control? Ive never had a problem getting airbourne so thats not an issue!! Any thoughts on what loft? What does everyone else play with their r9?
