This is the first time I've took a swing video or posted one. This is a 5 Iron, hit ok, I usually play a fade. Any tips would be appreciated. Sorry it's sideways, I have no idea how to fix it.

first to rotate all you have to do is go to the tools and click rotate.i believe your backswing is overley long, causing you to cross the line.it seems very upright.and i believe your right foot comes up way to fast in your downswing.

Thanks for the feedback. Tools in which program, I use VLC player, and I was able to rotate it but unable to save it like that.

Well I see a couple of problems.

1. Your head dips down on the backswing and never gets back up. Thats going to cause some incosistancy. 2. I THINK your standing too close to the ball. Now I'm not sure on that it's hard to tell from a vid like that. apart from that you've got a nice swing

He brings it back to parallel so I don't think it's that long.

I use a shorter backswing but that's just me.

Head dip and posture are two things I've been working on. As for the back swing I used to go past parallel, so that's as short as it's getting.

+1 on the tools rotate thing, I just don't know how to save it like that on swing academy.

you have a real closed alignment. you block your self in the downswing.

You seem to have an athletic and natural swing, if YOU aren't happy with your swing, you have the ability to fix it quickly.

Two things that I noticed.

-At the very top of your back swing your right elbow 'disconnects' from your torso, this seems to bring your club down to the ball a little steep.

- Your stance is closed, and by you playing a fade, this probably means you fight a slice. Your left knee is a bit 'loose', Stiffening a little may help with the "fade", plus it might help with consistency.

This is only, my opinion

have a good day

One thing that you do that is kind of wierd is you pre-load your weight shift before you start your backswing. I would work on more of a "One-Piece Takeaway" for consistancy!

I think your swing is solid.
Work on better posture and that one piece takeaway and you should improve!

Good Luck!

Yeah I've noticed that pre load before I start my take away. For some reason it's my trigger to start my backswing. I can't get rid of it, it's a mental thing. What do others use a trigger to start their backswing?

Yeah again sorry for the sideways shot. But as someone pointed out you can click tools in swingacademy (to the left of the video) and rotate it. Makes it much easier to view. Thanks for the tips all.

I'm a bit of a swing plane natzi. Like almost everyone that isn't a single digit handicapper it looks like you are coming over the top, which I'm surprised no one has said yet. Anyway the red line is the line you take the club back on and the green line is the line you swing down on. So your swing would look better in reverse as in take it back on the green line and drop down to the red line.

Here's a pic and next to you is some pro golfer with a short/mid iron, it shows how steep your swing looks by comparison.

Wow thanks for putting that together. That is exactly the type of specific evaluation I was looking for.

    • He’s got to be the best player that’s never won a PGA-tournament these days.
    • Day 3 (August 13).  4' putting drill;  this is a modified version of the drill from LSW for short putting.   For context, in 2025, my strokes lost putting is more than 2 per round compared to the 15 handicap baseline, just on putts under 10'.  So that's a glaring weakness I think.  Anyway, so I set up 12 markers around a hole like a clockface, all coins, all face up.  I putt from each in turn, if I make it, I flip a heads over (or pick up if it's tails).  This means I have to make 24 putts eventually, ideally quickly.  It took me 38 attempts to do this, although 9 of the 12 coins were picked up either in the first or second go around.   Anyway, the baseline for a "90-golfer" (per Broadie description) is 37 attempts, so that's pretty good, but I'll keep trying to improve.  For anyone thinking about this, the number would be 30 for an average scratch player.   This was done on a real green at a nearby course's practice area.
    • Day 18: a little under the weather, so just some mirror work while watching TV.
    • That's not the right way to look at it, because you're not going to have a rating of 55 or something for even a 6500-yard par 72. There's a minimum rating (depending on the length), and then +s and -s to that. If a course has a bunch of +s and -s that even out, that doesn't mean the course rating is 100% the length. And what kind of math would it be if the course rating was lower than the formula: 103% length? 🙂
