Driving the golf ball is the strongest part of my game, I'm fairly long and very straight. My favorite part of my game is putting, but I don't make as many as I feel I should to say it's the strongest part of my game.

Chipping. No doubt chipping. I've been forced to be good at chipping my whole golfing career because my irons have always sucked. My scrambling percentage is like 65% I think. Chipping contest? I don't put anything up below $1000 :)

Seriously, what's your secret? If I could chip and pitch I could not only break 80 with regularity, but probably 75 most days.

Honestly my strengths change. Some days I can putt, others drive, and others I can't really do anything well.

I believe my biggest strength is my short game and driving. I usually do those things well when I am playing to my ability.

My secret? I've had to work with chipping all my life to at least make par. My go-to chip shot is a low-ish shot, never higher than 3 feet above the ground. I play with the same balls all the time so I pretty much know how it's going to react when I chip. On the take-away its just a tiny bit of wrist-hinge (maybe like 15º wrist cock), and keep that hinge through the ball. The backswing starts off as arms and wrists hinging at the same time, and then through. It's very consistent if the ball is on the inside of your back foot. Hope this helps! ~RHPM

Thanks, I think it does. Sounds like maintaing the wrist hinge and consistent ball placement are the keys. My problem is inconsistency of application. I have to pick a methodology like yours and keep at it.

Yea. The funny part is, is that chipping is the only aspect of my game that I've never had any lessons or help on. And it's the best part of my game. BOO LESSONS.

Strongest part of Tiger's game is?

Short game and scrambling?
Making the pressure putts?

I would say making the pressure putts when he needs too, US Open last year, Presidents Cup several years back against Ernie Els.

Mine would have to be ballstriking right now. I've been working at it and I'm getting a lot more consistent. The fact it's still not great says more about my short game than it should~

my short game has been the strongest part of my game since i started playing but it hasn't been the same since I have changed wedges and stopped practicing often. i can recover quite easily when i'm shortsided and have to play lobs since i can get a lot of spin on the ball. i'm decent from bunkers but i need to practice more to keep my touch. chipping has probably been the best part of my game even, every time i'm close to the flag i expect to hole the chip or to get close enough to tap in.

Like the OP......my strongest is putting as well. I love the green, though getting there can be a challenge at times.....lol. The oldest club I have is my putter. My White Hot 2 Ball Blade has been in the bag since I took up the game. During my year+ layoff I sold all my clubs with the exception of this one.

The strongest part of my game changes pretty much daily But seriously, right now it's my putter. And that's really surprising since I'm just getting really back to playing a lot of golf and I was thinking that would be the last thing to come back. So far it's the only thing...

I currently play about 1-2 hcp.

I attribute this to a few key things.

1. I don't hit out of bounds or hazards.

2. I rarely three putt, and one putt often.

These two things alone are enough to make you an exceptional golfer. The rest is fluff. People often get lost in mechanics in this sport and forget that the objective is to get the ball in the hole while hitting it the least times possible.

I am not a long driver, I hit maybe 275-285 on a good tempo drive, and I hit my 7 iron 160-165.

I point these things out because these are the things the amateur golfer should be working on.

    • Wordle 1,652 X/6* 🟨⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜⬜🟨⬜⬜ ⬜🟩⬜🟩🟩 ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 Yup - one of those Wordle moments….
    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
