Right now I just use an Excel spreadsheet. I don't see any point in paying x amount of money to get it and being a high school student it's not something I'm going to spend money on.

If anyone knows of any free statistics software programs let me know...

I built my own stat sheet on Excel and it works fine for me. I find that it does help my game in certain ways. For me it isn't so much knowing during a round, or just looking at one round, but when you enter in several rounds and get some totals and averages, you can really see where your strengths and weaknesses are.

For instance, I though I was better at getting up-and-down than I actually was. Now that I have some data, I know I need to work on that part of my game. If I notice I am missing fairways to the right, I know what I am doing in my swing and how to correct it.

Keeping stats might help some people more than others. Some people just aren't that analytical and just don't care. I can say this, it probably won't hurt your game to keep stats.

I have a hunch you will be directed to a banner ad at the top of the page for Scorecard. You might want to give it a look and maybe check out the demo and see if it might work for you.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

c'mon..it's 30 bucks. You can barely buy a video game for that.

I don't see any point in spending money to calculate your statistics. The way I see it you can spend five more minutes putting them into an Excel spreadsheet and also play another round of golf with that $30.00. $30.00 to a high school student is alot.

then you will continue to use your free EXCEL spreadsheet.

But you did spend well over $100 to purchase EXCEL and if you purchased the whole Office suite, it was probably closer to $300.

First, Scorecard not $30 if you have are capable of reading. It's just under $24. And the guy asked about free stuff, so why you immediately started talking about not paying x for something is beyond me.

Second, Excel vs. Scorecard (or most golf stats apps) isn't a one-to-one comparison. Not even close . Third, $24 is pretty cheap. You say five minutes, but again that's with... let's say 5% of the features found in Scorecard. Let's further say - being really generous now - that to get to even 25% of the features it takes you ten hours of Excel scripting and molding and templating. Now, most rational people of a certain age would rather spend $24 than "spend" ten hours of their life. It's called opportunity cost, and though you may not know the term, you already make choices based on it. Everyone does. Study or go play golf? Fourth, as others pointed out, Excel isn't free either. Even if it "came with" your computer it wasn't "free." What you mean to say is that you already own it. And taken to an logical extreme, why do you pay for anything? Why do you pay for food? Couldn't you just grow it yourself? Knit your own clothes? Mine your own metals so that you can build your own car? You play golf. $24 isn't exactly a lot of money. But again, if you're completely happy with your Excel spreadsheet, good for you - you're not in the app's target market. Fortunately, a great many people are. Now, please stick to the topic. You've already answered the OP's question, and Scorecard is a paid app, so again why even bring it up? I didn't butt in and push Scorecard on the OP - he said "free" (as well as "online" and/or "at your golf course," none of which really meet his requests). People seem to like oobgolf.com. They have a limited, free option.

ive tried quite a few stat tracking programs that are free online and oobgolf.com is the one ive settled on... they also have a pay area that has a bunch more stats you can add to the free side... i think its called addict which i think is kinda over the top to track every single stat you can think of and beyond... unless you tote around a notepad on the course so you can remember everything

I was thinking about getting one of those nice leather bound notebook/scorecard holders... if not simply for the fact that the last 2 rounds i played were in the rain and try as I may my scorecard was wet at the end of both rounds. I am old-fashioned and like to keep them (at least for a season).

I too have all the score cards from this year. I just started getting serious in April so I have a nice stack of cards on top of the fridge and one day I can look back once they hace faded or browned and frame them up with the quote "The start of an addiction" lol

    • IDK, a full turn. That is what it's feeling like. When I shallow the club, it ends where It ends. Should I crank the torso more around?  I'll check a face-on to make sure, but it's not like I am trying to make partial backswings.  The day has finally come, when I am getting comments on not making a long enough backswing. 🤣 too much of what?  Here is my typically routine.... 1) I usually start out just doing position work. The backswing stuff we work on. Turn to A2.5-ish, shallow to A4, pause, arms down to A6. Then, slight pump drill and hit the ball.  2) I do some pause at A4 and arms down and try to hit ball from A4 instead of A6.  3) I do some full swing stuff, trying to blend it all together. Checking video to see if I am actually keeping the club shallow or not. If not, then I go back to trying to train the downswing with the stuff we worked on. I try to blend it all together again, and check video.  What am I missing here? I do the stuff we worked on. I'll keep it at, it's all I can do. Just hope it changes.  Sorry for trying to find a feel that keeps the club shallow..
    • Ha ha.... I'm not sure.  I've actually never watched a LIV event. ... but maybe? 👍👍
