Titleist AP2's (original) - Proj X vs DGS300

I bought the 2008 AP2's in March and honestly love these clubs. They have really helped my game tremendously. The only issue I have with them is that the Proj X 6.0 shafts have gotten rusted pit marks all over the shafts on all clubs (I dry them off after playing in the rain). Also, I hit my lower irons so freakin high its absurd. I mean high... I've tried hooding the club, etc. but I moon shoot anything from a 9 iron down.

I'm going to send the clubs back to Titleist to replace the shafts because of the rust, but I'm not quite sure I want to replace them with the Proj X shafts. Can anyone give some insight as to the major noticable difference when hitting these clubs with S300's in them? I've never had those shafts on any iron set so I'd appreciate any opinions.

Also - Damn is anyone else kinda salty about the new Titleist line-up being so sexy looking? I'm kinda bumed I just paid all this money for the older model. I think the 710 CB's are the new sweet clubs out for the cavity back forged player. Still very happy with the AP2's though!

the dgs300 would give you a slightly lower trajectory than the px 6.0. If you like the Project xs why not consider switching to the project x 6.5 or 7.0?
I agree wit you, the new AP2s and CBs look great.

I never liked the PX shafts; more to do with feel for me though as I find the PX feel harsh.

If you have the PX 6 you might want to look at the DG X100s, especially if you play your irons longer shafted than standard.

Overall, the DG shafts are the lowest flighted I've hit (they aren't THAT low though). DG generate more spin than PX I think as well. I just swapped my DG S300s out for Rifle Flighted 6.0 shafts but I wanted a bit more height than I was getting.

the dynamic gold shafts definitely produce a lower ball flight compared to the project x.
you could consider getting 6.5 flex shafts or try the x100 dynamic gold shafts

Maybe you should go get fitted for an iron shaft? Not sure how possible that is for you, money wise, but I think it would be worth the investment just so you know your playing the right shafts for you....

I had this same dilemma not too long ago, I LOVED the flight of the PX shafts, they take off quick, but then plateau forever, the S300 flight is more like a typical arc... I would be playing PX's right now, but I couldnt find an iron set with the 6.0's that fit my budget, so I opted for the s300....

The S300 will keep the ball lower thats for sure, but the ball still gets high. Maybe its the flex thats making your shots take off so high... Something stiffer may be good for you.

What club do you use from 150 yards?
