So Im looking to get rid of my POS 52*, I just have lost confidence in it and am wondering what a good wedge configuration would be.

I like having my 4 wedges, but Im not sure if I should go with a 50 or a 52.

Right now my PW is 46* my SW is 56 and my LW is 60. I use all of these wedges so Im definitely keeping these lofts, just not sure if a 52 or a 50 would work better here. I know Im splitting hairs but its a confidence thing..

Ive also considered getting the cheaper of the 2 and just bending it to 51*???

I dunno, what do you guys think?

I use four wedges too and actually have two different sets. I have a set of CG-14s that go with 4 degrees of separation starting at 48,52,56,60. And my second set of 09 Spin Milled Vokeys with 6 degrees starting at 46 (48 bent down), 52, 58, and 64. For the past 8 months I have been playing the vokeys but last week I had the urge to switch back to the CG-14's. I have been toying around with the idea of dropping down to 3 wedges, but with 4 wedges, you take the guess work out assuming you know your numbers. FWIW, I would say get the 52 just so your wedges are evenly spaced out. Just my two cents though...

I would look into getting a gap wedge that matches your irons. I use my 50 degree almost exclusively for full swing shots, and greenside chips, and like that is similar to my pitching wedge. My 56 & 60 wedges are for 1/2 shots, bunkers, flops, and anything under 85 yards that requires some extra touch.

I agree here.....I have 45 and 50 (Came with AP1 Set) and use Titleist 56 and 60 SM wedges. My 45 and 50 are from 110 and 80 out respectively. The sand and Lob I use for hazards and chips and high flying "lobs" Primarily I use my 60 for 20 to 30 chip and runs on the fringe (I'm actually more accurate with chipping than with putting...)

when I got my set I was going for 5* separation, as it was right in the middle of what most people recommend 4* or 6*. I was going to have the 56 bent,....but decided to leave just the way it was, as I was covering my distance just fine. Those are my 2 cents!
It's the indian, not the arrow! But it sure is nice to have good arrows!!!!!

I also play with 4 wedges. PW, 52, 56 and 60. It works well for me....but now and then I wish my gap wedge was a 50. For whatever reason, I find my 52 comes up short on full swing approach shots - and my PW (which is 45) is too strong. My advice would be to check the degree on your pitching wedge (I think standard is 46) and go from there.

Yep, I think Im gonna go with a 52. My PW is 46 and I dont think a 50 would provide much difference for me. I can hit a PW 110 if I need to, which is what a 50 full swing would prob come out to for me. So I think Im gonna go with the 52 for a little more versatility and those 90-100 yards approach shots. My 56 will go 75-80 yards, and my 60 is good for anything inside 65 yards, though I usually use my 56 for those anyways.

Thanks a lot for the tips guys!

A couple of thoughts...

* If you like the Hippo SW and LW, why not try out the Hippo 52° GW? Then you would have wedges all from the same matching family. (Pay no attention to my sig line...) * For your current 52, remember that it has 6° more loft than your PW. If there's a big distance gap between the PW and 52°, this might rate an adjustment. Even if you do pick up a 52° Hippo, you might have 15 yds.or more between 52 and PW. One way to cover this: Choke down 1/4 inch. on the PW when you need to hit an in-between shot .
