Great review. Question for TM or anyone else would uses or tried them. Can a 18+ handicap player use these? I like the Ping
I15s, yet according to the reviews, they aren't good for high handicaps. Although I do not like TM, I LOVE how the R9s look and would consider them.
I tried posting this as a comment at the bottom of the review. Yet whatever computer I use, there is no indications as to where to type, nor a submit button. Perhaps there's a problem with this site?

I belive the regular (non-TP) version would be fine for you. That's the way TM R-7s worked. I, being a low handicap got the TP version, but one of my buddies who is about a 20 bought (and still games) the regular R7.

I agree. The R9 (non TP) are categorized as Game-Improvement Irons so I would believe you would have no problem hitting them. That is why they come out with TP model, so they can make the face, topline, and offset all smaller for low handicappers and they are categorized as Players Irons.

I hit both the TP and regular R9's and to be honest there's still a lot of workability in the regular, despite being a game-improvement club. Both were very long in distance but accuracy was better with the TP (at least for myself). If you're looking into the R9's why not look at the 2009 Burners? IMO they're just as long with virtually the same feedback/feel as the new R9's. Either way if you could check out a Golf Galaxy or Pro Shop and swing 'em...can't go wrong with some personal testing :)
