I am possibly looking into a new driver. I am new player and I don't like my Cleveland HiBore XLS 10.5 deg. I have about 3-4 rounds into it and I have a slight dent at the bottom of the driver and I can't remember every smashing it to the ground. That is the minor gripe, my main gripe is this thing sounds like an aluminum bat and is loud as heck. I am looking into buying something new or used from a golf shop but I am drawing blanks about possible drivers such as the TM Burners. I am trying to spend about $100-120ish. Something forgiving if possible but this thing I think has to go; any help is appreciated.

I doubt the dent affects playability. Do you really just not like everything about the driver, or do you not like the results you get with the driver? If the latter, I suggest you stop blaming the driver. If the former, well, you need to like the club you're using in order to feel confident with it, but it's easy to cross the line between not liking the aspects of the club, and not liking the results you are getting with it.

OMG no, the results are fine for what I expect them to be. It is me causing slices and hooks but that comes with growing pains. I like the look but it is just the awful noise just really gets to me. I actually feel very confident with it. For some reason that aluminum bat noise is just way too loud.

Bimmer I sent him a PM suggesting a TM r7. They have about the best sound and are good drivers as well as being close to his price range (around $150).

Ehh, I'm not a fan of suggesting drivers over the internet honestly. I think the OP needs to get to a big golf shop and spend a good half hour trying out different drivers on a launch monitor, then leave without buying anything. Rinse and repeat until you find something that works for you. I dunno if I would bother getting fitted, you're not going to be able to produce consistent enough swings for a fitter to really analyze. Plus you probably swing differently one day versus the next.

ZeusKOTG,

If sound is only problem, why not stay with Driver for a season and get used to it? Don't change too many "moving parts" until swing stabilizes. (Any lessons on tap?)

Also, consider putting a What's in My Bag list in your sig line. That way, we can see your club mix, and how you approach the game.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Clubs kind of suck and I am trying to get some Vokey wedges from a friend. No and I do need some lessons big time. But the sound problem is a major problem because I can't play with a buddie because the noise gives him headaches and I stated that I can't stand it either. IDK why though.

If you like the results of the XLS why not drop down to the XL? One of the hottest there is and a nice solid THWACK too.

18 tee shots gives your pal a headache.

If one of my friends told me my driver was too loud for them I would probably hit a provisional on every tee just to screw with them. I have always thought sound works itself out if a driver is a good match... kind of like Pavlov's dog, see good shots, start to enjoy sound (salivate).

Not even 18 per round. Find a new playing partner.

I've invited him to join me since we live close together. I don't mind the clanking drivers since I'm almost deaf anyway. Too many years of shooting guns, racing cars and raising hell.

Trust me, I miss hit all the time to annoy the crap out of him with the sound. Can't get rid of a good friend who really ignited my passion for the sport beyond watching the majors.
