I noticed that while at address, if I lean over more, start my back swing and turn my left shoulder towards the ball, and then on the downswing turn my right shoulder into where my left shoulder was, I hit the ball much better. What's the deal with this?..easier to stay on plane? If you look at Lucas Glover's swing, he appears bent over a lot and sort of does the same thing.

Insight?

Also, does anyone concentrate on rotating their wrist on the down swing and through the follow through?

Tough to say, but it could be that you turn your shoulders on a flatter plane when you stand taller, and a steeper plane with your shoulders - which doesn't necessarily mean a steeper plane with the club, mind you - is typically better. Too many amateurs rotate their shoulders too flat (and their club too upright).

FYI maybe this relates to your question,,,,I hit a few balls at lunch on Wed...went well...hit 40 balls at lunch today...ugly...thought about it on the way home and realized i was working on something else and forgot to coordinate my shoulder turn. My trailing shoulder was getting stuck (ie my leading shoulder was outracing my trailing shoulder) the angle of your shoulder turn is kind of advanced..but for me to turn my leading shoulder and trailing shoulder at the same pace from takeaway thru transition is a fundemental that I often overlook...the beauty of this game is the ability to work on something while 2 or 3 other things go south but to have the knowlege to figure it out quickly. Good luck

Whether you know it or not your spine does change its flex (position) during the swing. I believe that when you turn your left shoulder more down towards the ball you are experiencing a more proper tilting of your spine to the left in the takeaway. On the downswing it is the reverse of this and your spine tilts to the right (as the hips move forward). For you this is the sensation of the right shoulder down and into the spot that your left shoulder occupied.

The shoulder must turn down in the swing. You're not straight up and down, so you don't turn flat. You're bent over about 30°, so your shoulders must turn on an plane in which the axis tilted on that same 30°. Your left shoulder should go down as you turn back. This is the only way to get a proper hip turn, and to keep the weight properly positioned on the back foot (as opposed to it rolling onto the right side of the foot). The other thing that you'll find is that the shoulder turning down helps to get the hands deep.

The shoulders and hips should turn just like a cardan joint. This is pivotal ( perfect choice of words!) to the swing. In golf, I find that one thing tends to fix another. Many many faults can develop when basic fundimentals are not in place. Fixing just one can erase a dozen other small flaws.

I should point out that David Wedzik helped me bring the club back on plane for the first time in my life, which I had struggled with for many years. He's the man to listen to.

Yes - this is a good thing! At the top you will feel yourself tilted TOWARDS the ball...then in going from the top to impact and follow through....just "flip" the tilt. Go from LEFT shoulder down and tilted toward the ball to RIGHT shoulder down and tilted toward the ball. And be sure and push your hips (lower COG or center of gravity) to accomplish this.

In the downswing I throw my right shoulder in a straight line at the ball to preserve lag as long as possible for a delayed release.

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.  
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on. 
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings. 
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
