It's getting increasingly difficult to find Gamer V2s at a discount except maybe a few dollars off per box.  Last year I could routinely get them for 10-12 per box.  I'm afraid the "word is out" with respect to Gamer V2s so big discounts are going to be much harder to find.  Since Dicks now owns Top Flite, distribution may be somewhat more limited which isn't likely to help the issue.  On the bright side, this is still a great ball at $20 per doz.

This weekend I ordered 60 used mint condition "Gamers" from an online vendor for $50 (including shipping).  I hope that my order includes mostly V2s versus the original Gamer but it's worth taking a chance.   I see that the listing has since been removed from their online catalog and I'm not sure why.

The fire sale was last summer. You could get 6 dozen Gamer v2 for $60 shipped on ebay! My gut says that now that Dick's has topfilte that they will either discontinue the gamer or change it. Dick's also owns Maxfli and I hear they actually have some decent balls so maybe their is hope for the gamer as well

I'm really wanting to upgrade to this ball..  but I'm not sure which one to get.

Dicks Sporting Goods has the black box, 20$ and WalMart has the green box $20.. so I can choose either.

I heard two stories.. 1, the boxes are the only thing that have changed [green to black box] and 2. the balls are indeed different, the black has less spin on the greens and perform worse.

obviously have read both sides back and forth but do not know which to go with.

any one shed some light? please

I'd go with the green box as there isn't any question those are the ones everyone has been referring to.  The ones in the black box could be the same, but why chance it if you can get both at the same price.

I have those in the green box now but my first dozen was in the black box.  I didn't feel like the balls in the black box spun any less or felt different with the putter.  I think that the box was redesigned but not the ball, unless Callaway, who owned the Top Flite brand, was trying to save some $$ on the black box product when they were about to be purchased by DIck's Sporting Goods/ Golf Galaxy.  That seems like an unnecessary expense, redesigning a ball, but I could be wrong...  I've read the same things that everyone else has.  I hope that the Gamer V2 stays available through Golf Galaxy, even though I have a lot of them to go through before I need new ones.

Rock Bottom Golf, $10.99.  Order 6 boxes to get the price deal, (that's what I did).  With shipping it comes out to about $1 a ball.

I just double checked, you only have to order 3 dozen.

Yeah i saw that deal last night..but i literally have no room for new purchases.. so it was Sports Authority gift card or nothing. They have some solid stuff actually. Rock Bottom.. is that new stuff? Legit?

Yes, it's new stuff.  And they're legit.  I've ordered from them several times.  I got a NVS 85 gram driver shaft from them for $18, I thought that was a find.

From my understanding the green and black box contain the same ball... the black box is just new packaging and has a different side stamp.

For Gamer.v2, it appears the new Black Box is "greener" than the old Green Box. The Black Box opens at the ends to let the three-ball sleeves slide out, and does not have a separate lid. I suspect it has about 60% the cardboard of the Green box.

    • I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.
    • Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.

    • Well the first advice I would give is to look at your swing. If you are swing out to in, it may be difficult to fix your misses with club adjustments. They would only be a bandaid. I use midsize grips because I have long fingers and I feel I have more control with them. I also have tinkered with shaft length and swing weight. But I know when I miss it’s because my swing was off.
