I just recently bought a 2x4 piece of pressure treated plywood from my local DIY outfit, along with 4 linear ft of astroturf.  I had some unused 3/4" thick foam type material left over from a garage gym that happened ot be 2ftx4ft, so it fit the wood eprfectly without any cutting.  A few 3/4" wood screws and some easy cuts of the astroturf and I had a sturdy wrapped golf mat for about $35.

Haven't purchased a net yet, but I'm working on it.  Unfortunately I don't have a basement here in Florida or enough space in the garage to do in indoors.  It'll have to be portable, or really sturdy and weather resistant.

I do have a pretty sturdy metal frame that is part of an outdoor movie screen that I use a few times a year (mostly football season) that I could use with some raw netting, but I think I'll just suck it up and get a decent frame/netting, Izzo or Callaway or something like that.

Dont have a net set up yet but built a putting green on the cheap.  Rolls pretty nice too.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I have a Real Feel golf mat and a Net Return net.  Love them both - if you really want to see them you can check my swing video in Member Swings . . but I just have them set up in the garage - nothing fancy.

I can't say enough good things about The Reel Feel mat and Net Return - both are extremely high quality products.  I've had both for about 3 years - there are times when I hit several hundred shots a day out in my garage and both the mat and net look brand new.  Not a single sign of wear on either.

    • Shot a +1 73 today. Pretty pleased with the round even though it could have been 3-4 strokes lower without hitting it much different. 1 topped tee shot, a thinned wedge over the green from 40yds, and 2 putts that hung on the lip all could have made this a phenomenal round. 4 birdies total. Had an interesting back 9, 3 birdies, 3 pars, 3 bogeys and a penalty stroke. Birdied 1 and 18 so that was a fun way to start and end the round.
    • Try some Tour Balatas and an Alien wedge….😏
    • Fresh out of the box. Grooves look fine.
    • Day 17 (18 May 24) - after band rehearsal this morning got home to a rainy afternoon so no outside stuff today.  Had some things to tackle in the shop, so I took the time to roll some putts on the rugs in the shop.  Able to work on tempo and distance control as I have a rug that rolls really well…so it makes for some fun work with the putter.
    • What ball were you using and how fresh are the grooves on your wedges? I practice chip shots with my gamer, and while it's a lower spin ball I'm still able to hit it. Not necessarily the one hop then stop on a dime, but a low one that hops once with a ton of spin and trickles maybe a few feet.
