Nothing to say back to this Iacas?

Clearly your definition of "good tournaments" differs from mine. A single top ten against an incredibly weak field doesn't constitute a "handful" of anything.

How did you finish in those tournaments?

We're talking about John Daly here, not an actual good player. Making the cut for JD is a "good tournament".

John Daly reminds me of Denis Lemieux. I expect him to phone Tim Finchem and ask for a trade real soon.

I beg to differ, I think that represent a"handful" of something, just not something I'd want to have a handful of, if you know what I mean:)

Thought he blew up in the second round like usual? But shot a par 71? I thought it was going to be a 78, lets say 83? When I actually looked up his score on the leaderboard (I start at the bottom), I was suprised to see the 71 second round.

That was on the "easy" North Course where you need to shoot at least 67 or so.

If even one person caught that comment, it was a success.

I caught it and laughed out loud... I even visualized Daly in a hotel room with Braden telling him what to say... Genius stuff

According to Golf Digest (Feb 10, page 52) John Daly made $4.9+ million last year(on/off course)...which ranked him #30 as far as making $$$ goes. He makes too much $$ to quit. He still makes more $$$ than most of the no name players on the PGA tour.

One of his stated reasons for not playing is that he "can't afford to keep playing the PGA Tour" (or something like that).

Remember he does have 27 ex-wives. Or was it 28?

Great point it was the North Course, still with a 71 it was not an awful score. I don't know...I hope with the remaining chances he gets he can make a splash. I think with shedding the 100 pounds it has affected his touch quite obviously...if he gets it back he can score...he had a very delicate touch around the greens (really neat to see in person). What won him his 5 tournaments was his short game...not his big drives...which might have been 15 yards better than the majority of pros in contention in a tournament.

The PGA Tour is in a better place if JD is midly competitive. We'll see I guess.
