I have the Adams A7 hybrid, 19*. I LOVE the way the face feels, but the shaft closes a bit too much and I always draw the ball, and I can't ever tell if it's going to be a 10 yard draw or a 30 yard draw. It's really frustrating. They hybrid is kind of a safety club for me that I want to be really comfortable with.

So, I'm considering returning it under the 90 days, 90 percent return policy, since I bought it new at Golfsmith. I could use the return credit and a little extra $ and try out the stiff shaft version, but I tried it out when I bought this one and liked the feel of the regular shaft more (I've always felt the Proforce shafts ran very, very stiff). The stock shaft is a Proforce Axivcore.

So I'm also thinking about switching to a different model shafts. I found 4 affordable hybrid shafts that look good: Prolaunch Red, Prolaunch Blue, Proforce V2, and Aldila Gamer.

I was wanting opinions on them from people who have one of these shafts in a hybrid. Does it hit high/low? Does it release and draw or hold back and fade or somewhere in between? Is it consistent or a little erratic?

Hi,
I think you will find with the different shafts will depend on your swing speed (im reffering to what you said about does it draw, hold off ect) that will depend on swing speed im pritty sure, the main difference between shafts will be the launch angle.
I hit a ping g10 driver with the prolaunch blue and it went WAY to high. But that was the driver shaft.

I just got an A7 and it's 'hooky' too. I thought it was because of the shaft LENGTH...but maybe it's the shaft itself.

Won a custom Magique M3 hybrid at a golf scramble, and the fitter recommended the Aldila Gamer. He said it was a good R shaft that wasn't mushy, good for someone who might play stiff if they could work on their game more. Club worked OK out of the rough, but I couldn't control it off fairway or tee. So, the Gamer appears to be popular for hybrids.

Much more likely to be the person at the end of the shaft rather than the shaft itself.

I understand what you mean, but I don't think that's the issue here (not entirely anyway

). The problem isn't that I always hit a draw. The problem is that I don't know til the ball is well in the air how much it's going to draw. I'm very much a feel player, and with every other club in my bag, I know where it's going pretty much right after I hit it. I don't care where a club goes as long as it goes the same place every time. And I feel like I can put the same swing on this twice and once it draws 5 yards and once it draws 35. It's just not consistent, or even really that close. And that obviously makes it very difficult to use, because normally I'm either hitting at a green or a small fairway, both of which require more precision than I'm getting right now with this.

I would think that blaming a shaft because you hook the ball is clutching at straws a little. Obviuously, that was my point, but if people want to start blaming tools, fine. They'll never improve. Obviously a shaft has to be matched to a player's swing, but when you have a common issue such as people seeing hybrids as "hooking machines", it seems to me a bit silly to be blaming the shaft. I would say examining your technique will pay greater dividends than scapegoating a shaft. So my "sage commentary" might be wiser than you think.

A 5 handicap telling a 7 and a 12 that they don't understand that their game is the problem. Good call...

I know how to hit a hybrid reasonably well and I know when one draws much more than normal. I'm just trying to find out which shaft would fit my swing the best. And even if the problem isn't the tool, it doesn't make any sense to stick with a tool that doesn't work for me if I know there are others that work better. So thanks for your $.02, but it wasn't much help.

I am not blaming tools. I'm speculating, working, trying to figure things out. That's what anybody does. I could also list the stuff I'm working on in my swing, but that's another thread.

I am having issues hitting my 4hybrid A7. It has the stock shaft stiff, what would be a heavier shaft to put in it?
