yardage 2,0 was a great site for this. if anyone knows of an equivalent ?

http://www.bastok.fr/yardage/bin/

you snap shoot picture of holes on google.

the the device enable to position tees, flags and stuff then drag distances from this points.

it doe'snt seem to work anymore the upload of images gives an error.

there are still past book made though.

The problem is that tournaments don't allow digital devices like cell phones. Some allow rangefinders. The higher up you go, you'll need a yardage book. LPGA & PGA, you need the yardage book - and unlike our goat tracks, those courses have them.

But making one looks like a lot of work, but with the right software: Google Earth, and Adobe Photoshop, it can be done.

I've found that trying to see my phone's screen in broad sunlight can be quite difficult even though I have an app that has the yardages for my courses via GPS.

the site I posted above was really easy and worked for french courses. I can't believe this is the only guy doing this.

somehow the guy got the algorythme of google earth in his drawing material. everything was calculated automatic. you just place the tee mark and a flag in the middle of the green and the get any distance to and from those marks

so if you pulled a line from the tees it would give you every 10 yard mark etc. same from the green centers.

If you search the course in the region 34, then click massane and look for the one i've done you can see how this is great for tee to green strategy.

I started putting together a PGA Tour style yardage book for my brother's CC and thought I'd share how I've been doing it for anybody that that was ever interested in considering something similar.  Here are first drafts of a couple of holes and I'll explain below what I did:

Belmont-5th.jpgbelmont-1-2.jpg

So far all of the work has been done sitting at my computer, upon which I am fortunate enough to have a copy of Autocad 2016.  Here's my process so far:

  1. Make a PDF of the hole from Google Maps and import to Autocad.
  2. Trace all of the applicable linework.
  3. Use bluegolf.com (which is google maps but with an easy to use measuring tool) to get all of my distances.

For now, that's pretty much it.  Step 4 will be to measure and mark the features that are not discernible on google maps; ridges and slopes on greens, big mounds or grass bunkers, etc,  This will have to be done at the course and will take some time (since I don't even live near the course) but it's OK, because I find this kind of nerdy stuff to be a lot of fun.

If I can put together a nice full book, I will try and make some extra copies for my brother and maybe other club members, that is, if the "publishing" part isn't too difficult.  I may also try my home course too next.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
