R7's are not really old. They came out in 07. Great clubs he has. I'd say cruise ebay and see what prices the clubs are selling for. 600$ new sounds very fair to me.

Not too bad, but not a screamin' deal. A quick check on eBay shows brand new sets of r7s (4-SW) selling in the $300 range. Driver for around $100. I imagine you could get a putter and 5W for less than $200 which would bring you in under the $600 your friend spent.

Also, a lot of stores are doing their spring specials right now. There are some screamin' deals out there for last year and the year prior models. You just gotta do a little searchin'.

Whoever came up with the saying, "A bad day of golf is better than a good day at work", is a moron.

I don't think that's a good price at all.... you could find those on ebay for half that ..but hey, I'm a cheapskate!

.........In My Bag........

Its really not a great deal. As was said, these clubs are already 5 years old. And while they would be fine for any of us as far as clubs go, that doesnt mean that they hold their value that well. I would tell them that with the age of the clubs, i'd give em 500$, tax in. If they wont go for that, I would leave them there. You already have great clubs in your bag. Those x-22's are every bit as good as those r7's will be, your R9 driver is a beautiful club, and I hear the Diablo woods are great clubs. I havent found an Oddysey putter i've liked, but thats personal opinion.

So, my opinion is, why spend 600$ to downgrade your clubs?

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

TaylorMade RBZ 5 & 3 Fairway Woods

Cobra Baffler T-Rail 3 & 4 Hybrids

Edel Forged 48, 52, 56, 60, and 64* wedges (different wedges for different courses)

Seemore Si-4 Black Nickel Putter

I would never downgrade my clubs, each and every one is my boo. lol. Looking into it for a friend who's wife just bought them for him. He was playing nitros so pretty much anything is an improvement.

Ahhh, well, its not a bad deal, they are good clubs, but its still more than i'd pay for 5yo sticks.
