Do the reverse... Feel like club head is pointing down the target line as you take it away, then your hands will feel like the lift up towards the sky.

So... I've got a severe inside takeaway... if I change this and take it away more down the target line, my hands will instinctively raise up and then I'll bring the club back in along the same line or inside that line instead of what I do now?

Video below is what I posted a few weeks back. Ignore the funky foot move, which I've corrected. CY

Im not to sure what you meant either?? Take the club away on target line, will make the top of the swing more upright instead of flat...??

Well if you look at most Pro's at the halfway point, when there hands are at waist level, the club is parallel with the ground and the target line. Its hard to explain, i am more of a feel guy, so i can't explain well. So my feel would be different than yours, but i am trying to help a bit.

If you stop the video were your hands are about shoulder height, you can see the angle of the club is pointing some distance away from the ball. I like it pointing at the ball or just inside it. I think its easier to attack from the inside this way, and it gives you some leeway if you do get a little flatter, so you wont get stuck later on. The way you get were you are now is that you bring the club inside to much in the backswing. Your hands are rotating around your body horizontally more than vertically. So the feeling i want you to get is your hands traveling more upwards, not sideways.

I think that the point is: coming "out-to-in"/"over the top" (or whatever you want to call it) on the downswing is often the consequence of taking the club away too far on the inside in the backswing. Try to do the whole thing in reverse: on your backswing try to take the club back on that exact same line that the club takes on your current downswing (i.e. the one which is on or outside of the target line) and you'll be surprised at how your downswing magically comes back from the inside on more of an in-to-out path.

Too far inside is one factor. Other things can contribute too:

* Overswinging on backswing to the point you partially lose your grip * Hand action at top to try for extra power - just throws you off balance * Not dropping club "into the slot" at start of downswing. People with a baseball or softball history are bad about this - They spin the hips rather than dropping the club while kicking the hips forward.
