You have a good swing but you're overanalyzing way too much. Sometimes you just have to play and let it happen. I admire your dedication though.

Yes over analyzing is an issue. But the bigger issue for me has been my dedication to practice correctly. It has taken a while, but I am confident I have found what I need to work on,

Played 9 holes today...

Off the Tee was awesome. I had one bad outcome, I tried to play a bit of a straight fade and ended up hitting a slight push draw (toe strike to). That line put me under a tree on a tight par 5.

The area I struggle with was my distance wedges and my mid to long range pitching. The club wasn't gliding under the ball the way I wanted. The ball came out much too low and went to far. It felt like I was a few grooves from thinning them.

I am really liking how the full swing is going. I need to hit the range and work on the wedges. I haven't focused much on them. At least the short delicate pitches around the green (with in 10 yards) were pretty good.

Went to the range and worked on my short game and distance wedges.

Chipping and pitching, stay in tilt better.

Pitching, watch ball placement and that it doesn’t sneak forward way too much. Be less right hand dominant at impact.

Feels a bit better.

Played in a scramble today.

driver was a bit of the old swing. Not off the planet hooks, but not really good.

Irons were pretty solid.

Distance wedges got better.

Met my Uncle at the driving range a few days ago. He video taped my swing (not slow mo). Hips are better. Swing is shorter.

I was wondering, has my grip gotten to strong?

Maybe a tiny bit, but honestly I don't know if I'd change it too much. Maybe a bit in your short game - but I usually like a slightly weaker grip for pitches and chips and the like.

Range work today with the short game. Some productive notes.

Pitching, practice good backswing length. Worked on keeping head down a bit more and pivoting good.

Chipping, practiced more of a rock the shoulders motion, and keeping in my spine tilt better.

Full Swing, Worked on making good contact and hitting start lines.

Played 9 holes today.

Overall the contact is much better. I only hit one shot really away from the center of the club face. The issue is just path to face control, and a bit of distance control.

I got off the tee well. I struggled with hitting distance wedges the correct distance (45-75 yard shots). My putting was hit or miss today. I had some really good putts and some bad putts. Pitching was solid.

Overall pleased, but the round could have been way better with the way I got off the tee so well.

From strokes gained versus scratch

Tee Shots: -2.04 (really good)
Approach: +7.2 (pretty bad)
Shortgame: +1.1 (This is 5x better than what is my normal)
Putting: +5.0 (too many missed short putts)

Worked on pitching and distance wedges.

I find pitching is getting easier to do.

Distance wedges are a bit of a struggle. I find a decent portion of my shots are about 1/4-1/2 inch behind the ball. The swing is shallow enough the ball ends up going 60-70% the distance. I think it’s might left shoulder coming up and my head tilting back slightly.

Practiced a little bit in front of the TV on some short wedge backswings. It looks like I am not doing my hip piece well enough on these type of shots.

This was something I was playing around with today. It's been a recent realization for me but my pitching (100 yards and in lets say) is so much about my set up. I think it's the most intensive set up for me in fact in terms of specific things that I try to maintain. Things like keeping more weight on the front foot and even slightly opening my hips during my set up.

Went to the range

worked on my downswing piece, hitting 7 irons about 120 yards.

Worked on my driver trying to do my downswing piece, hitting it 200 yards. I sliced a bit too much, telling me I wasn’t doing my downswing piece well. I worked on figuring that out and started to hit some neutral ball flights.

Worked on distance wedges, trying to keep work on hitting good backswing positions and good turns.

Helped my uncle with his swing. He gets his right elbow stuck behind him and he hangs back a bit at impact. I was showing him the preset drill to help clean up the flip a bit.

Video to come

pitching is getting a tad toe on the strike.

Full swing is to flippy right now. Then I worked on right side down and towards the ball more, and things got better. I still struggle to find a good way to describe the feel I have for when it works.

Right side down and towards the ball isn’t something I’ve ever really heard before and I think could be a really good swing thought for me. Do you try to initialize the swing with this thought?

Face-On
Setup looks good
Backswing looks good. Need to stop my hands at A3.5, and not let them carry to A4ish.
A7 looks really good. Some nit-picks could be head tilts back slightly.

Down the Line
Setup looks good
Backswing needs to stop at A3.5ish, and not let the club fall across the line. Not let the club head move all over the place in transition.
A7 looks good. Hips are more open, and torso is more open. Nit-pick, standing up a bit too much here?

Backswing feels for hips -  Right hip goes back and to the right. More 50/50 weight pressure feel at A4. Just working with a chair next to me is making this really consistent.
Downswing feel - Swing out at the ball with the right hand and shoulder. Right shoulder goes down at the ball more. Continue to turn that right shoulder down and forward. It almost feels like a bit of a lunge at the ball feel. Not sure if this is the direction I want to take this feel.
Backswing feel - Slower backswing, maybe a pause at the top. Needs a bit of work to find what works.

    • Day 132: did some mirror work while watching TV. Worked on backswing stuff primarily.
    • 26 Nov 24 -  It was not a record breaking round by any means, but rather a simple walking of the back nine today playing TBWB (two ball-worse ball) where the challenge is to play the worse of the two shots played - could be an errant drive from the woods, a tree knocked ball that is 100 yds farther back down the fairway, a nGIR ball as opposed to a GIR….the goal today was to stay no worse than bogie thru nine.  Managed to achieve that goal - bogied 7 holes with one dbl and one par to counter the dbl.  It’s about staying focused and not letting a bad shot or lie derail, but rather be an opportunity.
    • Day 208 (26 Nov 24)- Opted to walk 9 today (was the back nine as they had a huge group going off the front) but instead of it being persimmons and blades, I had the regular gamers but made it a TBWB (two ball-worst ball) round.  This really challenges on several fronts - ball striking to be as consistent as possible, course management from non-optimal lies and keeping your head in it as it can be depressing to nail a shot on line-on target and the second rattles the trees right and it’s over 50 yards back and that’s the one you have to play.  The goal was to be no worse than bogie overall (+9).  Finished the round exactly on the number with some solid recoveries, no penalty strokes and only one 3-putt.
