At address, imagine there is a taut cable connecting your breastbone and the ball. If you lift your chest up, or if you get too fast coming down, the cable will snap. Don't break that connection before impact.

first make sure you're coming down on plane. second make sure your head stays slightly behind or on top of the ball. i prefer slightly behind cause i have the same problem from time to time that you're having.

Do not lift the golf ball with the your swing. Let the loft of the club do the work. See hitting down on the ball threads. Same with chips. Keep your shoulders level thru the ball without scooping.

without seeing your swing this is an educated but usually relevant guess for this common issue.

thin shots are when you club is starting up pass the bottom of your swing its either ball position, your backswing or swaying back. Sometime it helps to visualize the circle and hitting your iron just before the bottom of the circle. A simple front view of your swing will show what is causing your thin shots.

+1

I had this problem a while back. Instead of swinging the club with my shoulders and arms, and letting my hands just go along for the ride, I got my hands involved and this would cause me to hit it thin. I concentraded relaxing my grip, and letting my shoulders and arms swing the club. That, and as trivial as it sounds - look at the front of the ball, not the middle during my downswing. This promotes hitting the ball before the turf.

You're a 7 right? How long have you had the MP57s - just curious. If you were playing in Canada, I'd suggest you might be wary of hitting too hard into the permafrost.

My typical shot mishit is a thinned since I'm more of a sweeper than a digger. Typically I'll hit 'em thin when I've just hit one fat and I'm still a little freaked out by the sod flying. Sometimes I just don't stay down thoughout the shot, the bottom of the arc is in the right place, but it's just too high - I didn't commit to the shot and hit the ball in the forehead. Other times the bottom of the arc is a bit too far forward and it's almost a top. If I work on hitting the ground below the ball (hitting through the ball as if it's not there) I get back on track.

Not enough, or lack of weight shift forward, or lifting the head are possible reasons.

I find out the I've slowly crept the ball forward in my stance when that happens. I move it back a little and it seems to correct it for the time being.

Another range party today and found out the ball position had moved back to my surprise??????moved it one inch forward on every shot and suddenly i was back into the zone.....gotta take it to the course tomorrow to test it...........quite possible the case of beers and late night hot tube with my wifes crazy friends made my shots thin though?????

I am surprised everyone is being so technical. Just relax. Slowing down your back swing and letting the club just make contact can get your confidence back. Works every time for me (in fact my fiance will often say "relax" to me in between my practice swing and tee shot if I look tense or am swinging too hard).
