Curious, what shaft weight do you all prefer. Do you recommend a heavier weight for a faster swing speed, or is it just personal preference.

I tend to prefer a bit heavier so I'm not whipping the club around everywhere. My impact position with lighter shafts tends to be all over the place.

+1. I had a feeling this was true only in my head, but a few sessions at the range with the aid of impact tape and a few different shaft weights confirmed it for me.

Wait, does this mean that a steel shaft would influence quiet hands? I have a problem with flippy wrists, and if that's the case, maybe I should switch to steel shafts.

To go against the grain I actually prefer lighter shafts, I lack club head speed and will take any help I can get and with my odd stack and tilt/one piece swing I normally don't have a problem with my woods at impact. I like a heavier shafted iron though.

Yep, I'm down for lighter shaft and head on woods, since I have a low CHS 95 - 100 /emoticons/a4_sad.gif" title="Frown"/>

It's really about your preference. A heavier shaft theoretically will help keep you on plane I suppose, but if you swing on a consistent plane you can go with a lighter shaft for increased speed. I have a 45 gram Mitsubishi Rayon shaft in my drive and absolutely love it cept the shaft cost 240 dollars!!!

I prefer a bit lighter and softer iron shaft than most players with my swing speed and tempo. Because I have a very unusual backswing in which my wrists don't break till the top, a lighter shaft helps keep me above plane, where as a heavy one tends to come back more on the inside. I prefer my wood shafts to be a touch heavier than standard. I use the True Temper GS95 Stiff shafts in my irons, Dynamic Gold in the wedges, and have Aldila DVS 65-S (this will be tipped to X when I have it regripped next) in my 3 wood, and a True Temper EI-70 (79g cut to X) in my driver. I still haven't settled on a 5 wood/2 iron club to put in my current set. I'm thinking either the Pro Combo 2 iron, or an Adams Idea 2h.

On my driver I like my 70G Fubuki...on my irons I'm looking to go heavier and stiffer...right now they're the stock Burner 'superfast' stiff ones...looking to put Project X 6.0's in...

I am thinking about putting my Ping G10 on my old EI-70 shaft for a while. I know once i switched to the EI-70, i was gold with my 975D. But i will need a shaft adapter to go from the 0.335 to the 0.350 on the ping. Does any one know of any shafts that are similar to the EI-70?
