who here has ever been night golfing?

me and my friend were talking about it the other day saying we need to do it sometime but i was wondering where you get a glow in the dark golf ball.

could you just get on a Dicks sporting goods or your local golf store?

I've never been but I did find a glow in the dark ball. It is a clear ball with a glow stick stuck through the middle.

I have an 18 hole par 3 course near me that is open at night. I believe the last group can tee off at 10 p.m. There are lights on the course and as long as you are not too far off the green finding your ball isn't too much of a problem. It is quite a blast.

One of my local clubs also has a night golf tournament that I know of. The groups get some high-powered search type lights and a flashlight for each golfer. I don't know anything of it other than that, however.

ive been night golfing on a course ive played in the day a couple times. fully lit, actually makes you a better golfer. Because only the fairways and greens are lit, rough/OB is totally dark. Makes you focus 50x more on where your placing your tee shot, and actually works.

Its a blast. We do it every summer. You get the balls with the glowsticks and each tee has 2 glowsticks as well as the flagstick and a small one in the cup. Those balls dont fly near as far as a normal ball. We are allowed to use a flashlight to find the ball and set up only. It really is a great time tho if you can find a place that has a night tournament. This year it may be a bit different though as one team accidently drove into the lake on one of the par 5s last year and the club is worried about liabilities

My only problem with golf is that I am usually standing too close to the ball............ after I hit it.

I have some balls that start flashing when you hit them. They keep flashing for about 5 minutes.

I have and we had a good time overall. But use caution choosing which brand of nightglow ball you use as one has a reputation for caving in faces on hybrids and woods, Google the topic and I am sure the thread will pop up regarding this issue (I think it is a Golfwrx forum topic) We experienced the chemical stick coming partially out of the ball which resulted in being sprayed with chemicals when striking the ball after this happened, it is hard to see this has happened unless you pick the ball up to inspect before striking it, you will feel safer as you and your club will glow for the remainder of the round along with any who may have been standing nearby.

Besides coming up short distance wise due to the nature of the ball the other short coming was the difficulty of playing to the flagstick as we played on a moonless night and several greens were near impossible to see. We would bring a flashlight to hang off the flagstick if we were to do it again.

The other issue we had was both the highway patrol and the local police came to the course to check out who was on the course in the middle of the night, they both wished us a good game after talking to us but you could see they thought we were a little nuts.

I've been night-golfing on several occasions Here in Singapore there's 3 18 hole courses (full courses, not par 3 courses) which are fully floodlit and there's also several courses which have floodlights on the finishing holes of each nine. The lights are pretty good and using a normal golf ball you can see most of your shots pretty well - it's like being on a driving range. Much better than glow-in-the-dark balls!

I have played on a course like that near me a few times. Having a flashlight with you is a good idea. Also a good time to break out the Srixon Z-Star yellow balls.

Theres a couple courses around here that do night golf during Halloween. They make a tournament out of it and you use glow in the dark golf balls and they paint the flagsticks with glow in the dark paint.
Theres also a par 3 course around here that has lights and is open until 10 pm. Never played either, but I think I may have to try it this year because it seems like it would be fun.

    • Worst thing on Sunday was that NBC and Peacock wouldn't let me FF through the commercials on my DVR recording. Very boring when a guy has a huge lead on the final round and everyone else is playing for 2nd place. At least it was USA 1-2-3 in the end.
    • First day of a trip to Bandon Dunes. We played Sheep Ranch today. A Coore/Crenshaw designed course. A par 34 on the front and 38 on the back. With 8 holes with either a green, tee box, or the hole runs along the edge of the bluffs at the pacific. It has amazing vistas. With wide fairways and intermixed gorse bushes. The defense of the course are its large, undulated greens and the daily winds from the north. Many times you need to take 3-4 clubs more, if you even barely cross the wind, your ball can be taken offline or come up half to a full club short. A fantastic layout.    here are some photos.
    • At Sheep’s Ranch, Bandon Dunes. Shot an 84. That wind was nasty going from like hole 7 forward. It was like a 3-4 club wind if in the face. Greens are tricky with the natural grass.
    • Yes. The full swing is not that different, and speed is important with all of them. You don't see Tour players hitting their driver 310 and then hitting their 7I 160. Of course, but they're nothing like those for the full swing.
    • How about with the high numbered irons such as the 9 iron? Is the swing the same with that? If that's the case then I stand corrected.  OK, although there is physics involved in the putt too.
