Is there any good way to practice a golf swing without banging balls. I would like to get a little productive practive in daily without shelling out 10-20 bucks on balls per day.

I suppose I could get a small net or something and practice my iron contact with my own balls, but anyone got any other suggestions?

By some wiffle(sp?) or kamen balls? Work great for me when I've been injured and need to swing so I don't get rusty.

Sounds stupid, but wiffle ball chips have helped my contact quite a bit. Was doing it in the living room until that unfortunate incident with my cat (bonk)... but the back yard works just as well.

You only need an area of 30-50 yards where you can practice chipping and short pitch shots with real golf balls. This will sharpen your impact zone and your focus is making solid consistent contact working on distance and direction. This drill will allow you to improve you golf swing because this is a mini version of the golf swing and you are practicing in the impact zone. Be aware of your set up and your backswing.

Whenever I want to stay sharp between rounds, I do this and have not gone to the driving range for years.

Walmart has bags of shag balls that have something like 45 of them for 20 bucks.
