I'd definitely recommend it, their signature hole is a Par 4 with a really neat view... Definitely fun to play. I've gotta finish up finals here in a couple of weeks then work my rear off before I'll have the luxury of even thinking about playing there again

Good luck with your finals.......not Cowboys, I meant just play somewhere in general.....I am golf poor and would rather play somewhere cheaper

Yes I know, I gave my own story and than answered the OP question, will the internet police ever forgive me?

actually the way you wrote it, you presented your own scenario and then answered your scenario.. not the OP's.

Since we're shamelessly off onto tangents I just wanted to add I bought that hat in your avatar -- All the comfort of a trucker hat without any of the redneck and it's fitted to boot. Love it.

I thought golf courses were the last places on earth where you could smoke freely.

I lived in Grapevine for 4 years, it's not the best place to compare societal norms.

This thread is going to go on forever.....I find it offensive, and rude....we wern't born with cigarettes in out mouth so why should I have to suffer from second hand smoke because some prick think's it's his right.....I especially find it annoying when i'm getting ready to hit my second or third shot and their are cigarette butts, or even a cigar butt next to my ball or in the vacinity.....

People do a lot of things we werent born doing on the course.

I absolutely hate cigarette smoke!!!!!

Having said that, if someone is smoking on the course I feel they have the right to do so outdoors. My only request is that smokers don't get right next to me so the smoke blows my way and to not throw your butts on the ground. If I walk up next to a smoker and smell the smoke, well, then I'm the one getting near them and need to move. If the smoker comes near me, they need to go somewhere else. If a smoker is 20 feet away and the smoke is being blown my way, I don't faul them for the smoke being carried that far.

Outdoors I think we can all get along so that everyone is happy.

Pipe smoke, I love that smell!!!!

I hate smoking. Hate being around the awful stench. I used to love the smell of a pipe smoker. Can't stand any of it now.

+1. I like how a guy 4 cars up at a stop light can be smoking a pipe and I can smell it with my windows up. Even when they're driving ahead you can smell it. Not a pipe smoker, I'd feel very Cosmo Kramer doing it.

No sweat man I can barely start a thread without hijacking it in the original post -- I was just taking advantage of the opportunity to show some hat love is all.

I was in my clubs pro shop and another member walks in smoking a cigar, lol this thing was at least a foot long, but anyways, I asked him if he would take the muffler pipe outside, or I could shove it up his ass to extinguish it, needless to say he made a B-line for the door ...... so is it rude? absolutely

one thing that's always gripped me was on the golf course people will complain about people smoking how it's killing them and more, yet after drinking booze for 18 holes they will climb in their car and drive home..

    • Never practiced golf when I was young and the only lesson ever taken was a driver lesson. I feel like I'm improving every year. However, the numbers don't support my feeling about improving. I usually drop to 12-13 during the summer while playing the familiar courses around home and then go on golf trips in the fall to new courses and increase to end the year between 15-17. Been a similar story for a number of years now but hey, it's the best thing there is in life so not too bothered but reaching 9.9 is the objective every year. Maybe a few lessons and practice could help me achieve it since I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing, just playing and never practice.
    • I am semi-loyal. Usually buy four dozen of one ball and only play that until out and then determine whether to continue or try another one. Since starting my semi-loyal path to success, I've been playing the below, not in order: ProV1 ProV1x ProV1x left dash AVX Bridgestone BXS Srixon Z-star XV I am not sure if it has helped anything, but it gives a bit of confidence knowing that it at least is not the ball (while using the same one) that gives different results so one thing less to mind about I guess. On the level that I am, not sure whether it makes much difference but will continue since I have to play something so might as well go with the same ball for a number of rounds. Edit: favorite is probably the BXS followed by ProV1/Srixon Z-star XV. Haven't got any numbers to back it up but just by feel.
    • Will not do it by myself, going to the pro shop I usually use after Cristmas for input and actually doing the changes, if any, but wanted to get some thoughts on whether this was worthwhile out of curiosity.
    • In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
