Putter?

I was hoping to get some input on this. I've been using a Ram Fx3 putter for about 3 years now, just something I found cheap when I was like a 35 handicap who was playing mostly on executive courses. I've now improved my game to where I consistently shoot between 80-85 and I've been (slowly) saving some money for a Scotty Cameron. I've worked alot on putting, and plan on continuing to do so, but I find that I'm to a point where I'm not satisfied with the one I have. I just don't like the feel of it.

If I find a Scotty on eBay for $150-$200, would you suggest it? Do you think it could provide some more confidence with my putting stroke, leading to lower scores?

Equipment is 10% so a Scotty will give you perhaps better feedback but it will not make you a better putter.

If it will give you more confidence, it may be worth it. But I really think $200 for a putter is just showing off to your buddies.

Find something you like, don't just buy because of the name. Not even all SC's are alike, so unless you've tried it and know what you are getting, you might as well just keep your own. A Scotty doesn't give me confidence just because of the name... just the opposite. I'm not a fan of them... in fact I'm not a fan of any specific brand of putter. On the rare occasion (I've only had 2 putters in the last 12 years) that I find it necessary to change, I try everything I can get my hands on without any regard for brand or price. So far I've never spent more than $90 on a putter, yet I've always found something that felt great and worked well.

$150 for a good used Cameron is a decent deal and Camerons are really nice putters but Im not sure they are really worth the money. For $150 you could buy a really nice, new Ping, Taylormade or Oddysey putter and have something that is just as good as a Cameron.

I would really recommend trying as many putters as possible, you may be surprised at what works for you and even save a little money in the process.

you just need one that you really like and then you gotta spend time with it. be that a super premium putter, or one you found in a dumpster, you just gotta like it.

THis guy i played golf with uses this putter thats older than me, and he can put lights out. So it does't matter if its 300 dollars or an old junker out of a garage sale, what ever can get the ball in the hole.

I use a Taylormade Rossa Spider putter, I struggled with my putting for years, first off you have to decide whether you feel more comfortable with a blade, mallet, and peripheral weighted putter, the best way is to go to your local golf store and just try several, when you pick up the right putter you just know, it feels right.
