so what happens when you take a full bucket of balls and swing a driver at full speed one ball after another?

You wake up with the worst upper back and neck pain ever. Good God I can't even turn my head, look down, look up or anything.

I'm out for 2 weeks atleast.

I've been out the past 4 days with upper back pain (right inside my left shoulder blade) and a really stiff neck as well... The neck is feeling pretty good today but the back is still not ready, and I know it, but it's still taking everything in me not to go out to the range and try again.

Have iced my back twice a day at least and it's still not better wtf I'm 20 years old I'm supposed to heal in minutes not days.

Probably pulled a lower neck muscle. I did that once while using a foam roller to do some massaging, it knocked me out for about 2 weeks, you can do anything at all, just ice it and take pain meds. Do not swing a club at all, must let it heal.. Right now i am fighting a sciatic nerve issue. to much sitting in a crappy chair infront of the computer, just kills that nerve. Finally got a ergonomic computer chair, so nice.. Hopefully this clears it up.

I have too much respect for my driver to do that. Plus, there's "duh".

Yep, I made that mistake once. I pulled a muscle right between the shoulder blades. Also pulled a muscle when I had the brilliant idea of borrowing a friends left-handed driver for about a dozen balls. I hit it better than I thought, but paid for it for the next week.

WTF would u do that for? driver givin u the fits or what?

dude.......... thats more balls w ur driver than i have hit w my driver on the range in 2 years

wow... I rarely hit more than 5 drivers in any given range session and often don't hit any at all

If I hit a full bucket of balls with driver at full pop, I'd not only seriously damage my body, but it would probably take me 3 or 4 practice sessions to undo the damage to my swing ;)

i just bought the Ping G10 and was really smashing the balls that particular day so I kept doing it. At the time I felt great. It was the next morning that didn't feel so great.

Anyway, I've been attached to this IcyHot patch all day today but doesnt feel any better. Now my clubs are sitting in my living room. Time to do some putting on the carpet :)

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
