I dont have a video camera so I can't post any video. I'm going to give you my iron distances first. Will continue my post below these distances:

5I- 205
6I- 195
7I- 185
8I- 175
9I- 165
PW- 155
52 SW- 130
56 SW- 115

I normally only hit my driver around 265 or 270, maybe 10 yards more if I really crush it. Could I just not be swinging my driver the proper way or is it more than likely shutting the club face down or/and overswinging with irons. I ask this because I have a problem hooking the golf ball with my driver and I'm a LEFTY. Is it possible to be consistent when you hit your irons this far, but don't hit your driver but around 265 on average?

I honestly am not trying to brag, I'll do anything to be able to play GOOD golf and today was a breaking point. Had an 83 in a qualifier today. Hit 4 fairways and 11 greens with 39 putts on a course with VERY small greens (they were nearly unplayable bumpy though)

I would be worried about my putting over my driving distance if I was you. 39 putts is terrible. If you had 30 putts then your looking at a 74...just food for thought.

Yeah, I know my putting was terrible today but I hit some really bad tee shots that had no excuse such as excessive bumpy greens. Is there something wrong? According to calculators I should be hitting my driver around 290 or so. Just wondering if there was something I'm missing.

I am the opposite of you. Today I averaged 278 off the tee, but my irons are at least 25-20 yards shorter than you.

You're probably right on track as far as most calculators I've saw. I'm around 6'0 215 pounds with a huge chest and shoulders (and not exactly a slender waist haha). I think bigger guys can use that strength to influence iron distances, while driver power is mostly technique

Im 6'3 272lbs. I can really hit the driver if I need to or have the room, but usually I try to avoid the trouble off the tee. Plus, unfortunately I bought graphite shafted irons off of an older gentlemen since I didnt know the difference at the time. I think with steel shafts I would be longer with my irons.

Holy crap. You hit 11 greens and putted 39 times??? 2.16 puts per hole. Not exactly a great stat. I hit my 7 iron 150 yards. I would love to have your distance, but I'll keep my 1.89 putts per hole.

You can hit your 5i 205 yards so why are you worried about 265 vs 290 with the driver?

I learned at the end of last year the only way I was going to improve track my stats and be brutally honest with myself about my game and what needed improvement.

thats probably the reason then. I play on an extremely FLAT course that is very short with NO trouble in the middle of fairways.

The 11 greens doesn't sound as great I dont guess but like I said the greens are SO SMALL and SLOW lol, guess that makes my 39 putts look worse though haha. Anyways, My swing was solid today but it RARELY is and I'm just looking for any possible reason why I can't make good swings under pressure.

If you want consistency with your irons, hit balls at the range, then repeat. Took me at least 5 weeks before I felt comfortable with my long irons again.

thats another big thing, I normally JUST play golf. I get into bad habits on driving ranges and my back doesn't hold up on even a small bucket as I can't pace myself. Also, the closest range is 30 minutes away and I usually dont have but 1-2 hours after work to play.

I dont have a video camera so I can't post any video. I'm going to give you my iron distances first. Will continue my post below these distances:

i do not want to start anything negative here. i have quite a bit of experience in golf and i would bet that your distances listed are not correct. i COULD be wrong. if you hit a 5 iron 205 your there with the tour pros and whatnot. this is not what i think is incorrect. i know plenty of high handicappers who can hit as long as tour pros and your not a high handicapper. but if you do hit the 5 that far your other distances are probably not going to be in exactly 10 yard increments. mine are closer to 13-15 yards up in the 5 iron range and the gaps get smaller as the club gets more lofted. i think you should get out on an open hole with a straight in approach with gps or stepping off markers and find out EXACTLY how far you hit each club. on another note, if your talking a carry of 270 with a driver that is really, really great distance. you are a bomber. if thats total its not bad at all, but it probably is low if you really have a 205 five iron. might need a new driver or fix some swing flaw

That was kind of an estimate, I can probably hit all of the irons 4-5 yards further when needed. My gaps don't really get smaller though. I'm talking about 270 including roll for the most part.
