Wow. Such harsh comments. I just don't see the big deal. Did I read the wrong article? I have to admit, when I read the title I was expecting much worse than that. For entertainment purposes, it was a bit of a let down Sure, it wasn't a nice thing to say and this is a gentleman's game. But Tiger Woods is golf and let's just say he's not the biggest gentleman.

Jeez, the kid is 7 years old, do you expect his entire behaviour to reflect that of his parents? Kids will be kids.

No. The kid had to learn that behavior from somewhere.

My kid's seven. She'd never do anything like that.

This will be the same kid who grows up and runs on a baseball field...after asking dad for permission. And dad will say yes.

Yesterday I was at the market with my 13 month old and over heard 2 girls, probably 7-8 years old make a comment to their mom about a cover of a National Enquirer-type magazine. "Mommy, isn't this the girl you said acted retarded on TV?" "Yeah, that's her, she's stupid." Couldn't believe it. I guess I was raised much different.

As someone who is still a minor, I am confident in saying that kids will only do these things if you let them. They don't make these things up, they either see you do them or they see them on TV. It is the parents' job to make sure that doesn't happen.

I grew up not saying a single curse word whenever my parents were around. On school and when hanging out with friends though, I had a far more foul language. I surely didn't pick that up from home. You left out the option of the kid seeing these things through TV, internet or other kids at school.

Wrong. Kids will be the type of kids they are raised to be. It doesn't matter what their personality, temperment, or level of patience is, ALL kids can be taught to exercise self-discipline and show respect. This is clearly the fault of the parent. Dad is a scumbag and so is mom.

His parents are scumbags? You sound like a d-bag. You don't know his parents. The kid didn't even use foul language. He just told Tiger to kiss his #1 ranking goodbye. That is hardly talking trash. I hope your kid never goes to a football game, basketball game, or hockey game...

Point of fact is you can't control them entirely and it's näive to think you can. The best parents in the world may end up with a nightmare child for some reason or another.

I don't know what the kid did or said and don't care. I do know that a kid may say something or do something that is not from his parents but another kid or a sibling. Slapping the kid in the back of the head? Go ahead but when you are charged with physical abuse of your child then you can justify your behavior by saying that you were protecting Tiger. Since when is Tiger, who swears openly and drops F bombs within hearing distance of gallery and network mics, deserving of such protection and all that respect.

There are instances of rude behavior by spectators in many professional sports. Golf is a game for the gentler society but things are not perfect anymore. I am sorry that a 7 year old offended the Tiger. I wonder what his children might have to say to him some day. Oh Yea! " Tiger I wouldn't be slapping your children in the back of the head if I were you."

    • Best drive I've ever hit: I will not be answering any questions about the rest of the hole. Or the round, for that matter.
    • I tried hybrids way back when TaylorMade introduced the copper orange Firesole Rescue, the clubhead having been made of titanium which was still relatively new even in drivers back then. I couldn't hit it well at all, and while the success of hybrids suggests that the modern ones must be quite good,  I'm perfectly happy with the 5, 7, and 9-woods.  Early ones of mine were Top Flite Intimidator 400s made by Spalding... and also made of titanium, now that I think of it.  I still have them in my basement. I do bag a driving iron, but it's a one-trick-pony that never sees fairway use.
    • The last time I played Maxfli balls, Dunlop was still making them. How long ago was that? Mostly, though, I used to play Top Flites (original 336 dimple model) when Spalding was still making them. Now I play the Pro V1x. Last time that I ordered some, Titleist was still making them. Let's see how long that lasts.
    • Once, on a course in Middleton, Massachusetts that I used to love but has since closed down,  I hit the wrong half of a huge, UK style double green.  Then I made the hundred foot putt.  Tough to  forget that one.
    • No. But if I can still play next year, I'll almost certainly be even worse. That's the reality of not being young.🙁
