which irons do you guys rhink are better , the titleist ap2 or the titleist zb irons?

whichever ones you like better are the ones that are better.

With that said, the ZB's are on sale at my local shop for $600 as opposed to AP2 at $900, so I'm more inclined to lean towards the ZB's. From my experience, i haven't hit the ZB's extensively but tried them out. the AP2's are definitely a bit more forgiving and softer. The ZB's are not the standard muscle back blades but not the EASIEST clubs to hit. I didn't feel it was difficult to the point where I couldn't hit them, but at the amount I play, I personally wouldn't go with the ZB's. Both are great irons in my opinion.

They are both great irons but in my opinion the ap2 would the better of the 2 for the average golfer. It is a forged iron but is still friendly to hit. The zb is a true players iron and a lot more difficult to hit. Good Luck

yea I agree. I liked how light the zb's feel but there's nothing behind the ball with them, very thin. You would have to have an excellent swing to have great shots with them

I liked the ZB better myself when I hit them. Almost ended up buying them too. Opted for the ZM instead. Hit them both, go w/the one that works best for you.

I picked up a set of the Ap2's about a 2 months ago and love them. I tried the zb but couldn't get the same feeling out of them. I have played the best golf in my life since getting the Ap2's. I'm so much more consistant its amazing...gotta love Titleist.

For most players, I think the ap2 is a more suitable club.

Two years ago I wanted to get the original AP2s, but after extensive testing, I just preferred the ZBs better. They felt better to me and I had better control with them so that is what I got. Absolutly no regrets. I love playing them and have them really dialed in right now where I feel I can do anything with them I want.

A couple of weeks ago I hit the new 710 AP2 at a demo day. I found it to be much better than the original, but that might just be me. I don't know what they changed, or if I changed, but they were great. No way I would switch clubs right now, but if I had the resources, I might be thinking hard about getting them. Or at least spend some more time with them to find out.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

For the new ones heres what the titleist site says they did " The concept for the original Advanced Performance irons arose as a result of research that indicated serious golfers want performance with great feel, not performance at the expense of feel. The Titleist R&D; team’s advanced research group has been conducting extensive sound and vibration analysis aimed at reducing the harsh lower frequency vibration that causes poor feel in irons. This research led to combining several technologies and materials in the back cavity of the new AP irons resulting in a new Tuned Feel System to take feel to a new level.

The new Tuned Feel System is a co-molded medallion of soft elastomer and aluminum plate. This insert has been specifically designed to improve the sound and feel of each new iron. For the new AP2, a softer, more solid feel is achieved. Other subtle refinements to the new AP2 have created performance gains in feel, sound, and turf interaction.

i play the ap2 and really like them. a forgiving club with plenty of workability and soft feel.
i haven't tried the zb though so i can't compare them. only a very good ball striker would benefit from playing such a small club IMHO.

yea I havent hit the zb's. Just held them and they are very light and pleasing to the eye but they dont have much meat to them which is why they are so light. You would have to have a great swing and hit a good spot on the irons for them to really work good for you it seems. I saw a guy at the range hitting them and he didnt have a great swing but it was ok. It seemed he wasnt getting much distance out of them which makes sense.

Can't say. Mine are the 2009 version (bought them in January 2009) and they have the 2010 grooves. Been playing them for almost a year and a half now and I can't see why you would need any more spin. From the fairway the spin as good as with any other club I've used (I use the new TM Penta TP ball). From the rough they don't spin well and you will get flyers too, but that how they are designed.... the rough is supposed to be more penal. That gives you more inspiration to hit the fairway.

I really like them.

If you are a 4.9 and actually can't hit blades, you must have a pretty bitchin short game my friend. For what it's worth, the ZMs don't seem to penalize bad shots as badly as blades traditionally have.

As for the wifey, I can't help you there. My fiance is in Africa for the month, and I made sure the new Ping 4 Under bag (great, great bag, btw) was the same color as the Hoofer it replaced. Here goes nothing...
