I was looking to get a wedge or two at a reasonable price. What do you guys suggest?

Also, do you think I should get one great wedge, or a couple of cheaper wedges?

I use the Nike SV Tour wedges and think they're great. I switched from Vokeys to these and haven't looked back. RBG as mentioned before has them for $50.00 apiece too. They also have a set of 2 Nickent 4DX wedges (50* & 55*) for $39.99 that I just bought for my father in-law. Good luck!

I know Both Dicks and Golf Galaxy have the new Maxfli wedges. Dark gunmetal in color. I think Dicks had them 2 for $70 on sale the one day. Golf Galaxy has them normally for $39 each. I havent hit them but my buddy bought a couple and seems to like them.

Being you like Callaway, see if you can find some Callaway X-Forged wedges from a couple of years back. Since Jaws took over, the X-Forged have dropped to US$70 in many places. You would have to practice with them a little, but my X-Forged 56.14 is super for bunker shots, and greenside lob shots. We're about the same HDCP.

If you got XForged at 48*, a 52* and a 56*, this would give you a good wedge matrix (52* may be hard to find); or maybe 50* and 54*.

Or, you could stay with D Edge and go 49* and 54*.

If you pick up more than one wedge, you would need to shed one or two longer clubs. Among 5W, 3H, 4H, 4I there may be some yardage overlap. Let us know what you decide to do. And, congratulations on the new clubs!

I'll probably get two wedges and I will be dropping my 5W and 4I. I'm still not sure what wedges to get though. How do Founders Club wedges sound?

Not sure what to tell you on Founder's Club. And, I've been there on the wedges. When I swapped out almost everything last year, finding good wedge mix was a major headache. Just got to try a few, and see what fits and what you like.

Checked out the Callaway site after earlier post, and you dropping 4i sounds good. Found out that Edge offers several mixed sets. A popular one is 3H, 4H, 5i, 6i... So, the Edge designers evidently didn't expect a 4h and 4i in the same bag.

I actually got the 4H as a gift, and had the 3H and the 4-9 irons before. I just decided to keep it in the bag.

As far as wedges go, I'll probably go to a local golf store and try out a few.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
