I am fairly new to the game. Last year i bought a cheap set of clubs from play it again sports to see if i liked playing the game. I wasn't sure because i tend to get frustrated easy and just walk away from stuff. For some reason, golf, although the most frustrating thing i do, has got me sucked in.

With that said, i was never good with the cheap driver that came in that set, it/I sliced horrible. I have since corrected the slice alot, with my other driver, Adams 303cc tight lies. I hit that and all my irons pretty well, but am looking for a bit more distance out of my driver. With the Adams, i am averaging about 200-220yds according to my driving range signs. If i swing for the moon and actually make contact solidly, it will fly to the fence which is 250yd. I just don't have alot of control swinging like that. I am looking for a good driver to utilize my normal swing and gain some distance. With my old crappy driver even with a slice they would fly out to 240yd. They would just be out 40-50 off to the right. I know i have more distance left in my swing if i was to use a better club. I guess i am looking for club ideas that would let me take the hr long drive to my local golfers warehouse and have a useful visit test hitting specific clubs, not what they are trying to clear out of stock . Thanks guys for the assistance.

I just changed drivers myself, and gained a good 15 yards in the process. I've never used an Adams, so I can't say if you will see the same gains, but while you are trying clubs try the Callaway Diablo Edge. I really love mine ( I bought the 11° head)... only had it a week but it's making a difference.

Just go hit them all. And with different shafts. The shaft is the most important part.

I highly recommend the Ping G15. It's highly regarded as a very forgiving club. I tried it out before I switched from my R9 to R9 Super Tri and it was a tough decision. If I couldn't have the Super Tri the G15 would be my next choice. Of course, like someone else already said... everyone is different so go try 'em all.

You may want to try a square headed driver, although you'll slice any type of Driver if you're not swinging correctly. Also the loft makes a difference. The lower loft the longer it goes, but the more pronounced a slice will be. I play on a high loft driver (12*) I don't really get a boner trying to crush drives 300 yards into the woods with a 8* driver and a super stiff shaft that is completely too much club like a lot of guys seem to do. I'd rather have control than distance....

+1, there are so many.

Start out with higher lofts and less stiff shafts and used if possible so someone else takes the hit and trading up is less painful. As you progress and your swing is more established and you have a better idea of your needs, get fitted.

Thanks guys. I may head on out tonight to see what i can find.

Alley Cat, I have been seriously looking into the super tri. I love the looks of the club, I guess hitting one of those is going to be on top of the list to see how i do with it.
