Hi guys,

So Sunday I broke 80 for the first time, and prior to that I have been shooting low 80s consistently.

My clubs are straight off the shelf.

Do you think it is time for me to get fitted?

When I am at the range, the marks left on the club are usually towards the heel more than center.

Same, same. What does your slow-mo say? Do you come off the plane?

At our GC they had a Ping fitting "event" - you got measured up and a recommendation for the right Ping hardware.

I am asking myself, when would a fitting be right? When would I need this club or that shaft? My answer is currently: When my swing would be consistent. Would you regard yours as consistent enough?

If you are serious about the game and your equipment, everyone should get fitted. That's my belief anyway. Why would you start with something not fit for you, consider yourself "consistent", then go and change your tools? Doesn't make sense to me.

I got fitted for my irons and since then I have made some swing changes, mainly posture and swing plane. I consider myself becoming consistent with tools that are fit for my game.

Congrats!

My plane is pretty good, and my ball striking is getting better every round. I stand a little further away form the ball than most ( I think ), hence the marks on the heel.

That sounds kind of backwards, but anyway, if you still enjoy playing the slingshots, why change? If you want new irons, get 'm , and get fitted, Otherwise why change, when hitting nearer the heel is not so bad (better than hitting out near the toe anyway).

My goal is to buy new clubs and get fitted when I break 90. Lowest so far is 95. I'd say its time for you to get fitted.

Well, I don't wanna buy new clubs, I just want my Slingshots adjusted to my swing

Aren't those cast stainless steel? How far can they bend those?

Steel shafts are rather cheap. You may need different shafts depending on your swing.

They should be able to adjust the lie angles up to 3* on those clubs I would think.

I'm hitting Slingshot OSS's - if they're any similar, a clubfitter told me yesterday that they don't bend very much or very well for that matter, and are susceptible to breakage if attempted. YMMV.
